IUP women's basketball listed third in final NCAA DII Atlantic Region Rankings

INDIANA, Pa. -- In the final release of NCAA regional rankings, the IUP women's basketball team landed third in the list of 10 schools. Wednesday's poll marked the second numerical release of teams in each region after the first numerical poll was released last Wednesday.

The Atlantic Region rankings considered games through March 2 and the Crimson Hawks boast a 19-6 in-region record at the time of the release. Since last week's set of rankings were released, IUP split their two final regular season games. They lost to California (Pa.) 69-62 and defeated Clarion on the road 68-55.

Seton Hill claimed the top spot in the regional rankings with a 22-5 in region record. Edinboro claimed the second spot, followed by Gannon and Fairmont State to round out the top five. Other PSAC opponents include Kutztown in eighth, Cal U in ninth, and Lock Haven in tenth.

Wednesday's rankings marked the final set of numerical rankings to be released ahead of the full bracket reveal on Sunday, March 9. These regional rankings ultimately determine the teams selected to the NCAA Tournament. Eight schools from eight different regions will make up the 2024-25 NCAA DII Women's Basketball Tournament field of 64 teams.  The NCAA Selection Show will take place Sunday, March 9 at 10:30 p.m. and will stream live on NCAA.com.
