INDIANA, Pa. — IUP men's golf closed its regular season with a runner-up showing at the 60th Annual Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational after final round action on Wednesday at the Indiana Country Club.
Alex Swinnerton finished tied for second overall with rounds of 75 and 74, slotting one shot behind individual medalist Erik Ulvang (148). Ulvang guided Charleston (W.Va.) to the team title with a 36-hole team score of 610.
The Golden Eagles finished six shots clear of IUP (616) and Cal U (616) in frigid conditions on Wednesday.
Swinnerton played the back nine at a one-under clip on Wednesday, securing his 13th career individual finish inside the top five.
Ben De Castro and
Jon Vinge (individual) tied for 30th place after 36 holes.
De Castro logged a six-over 77 on Wednesday and Vinge carded consecutive rounds of 79.
John Olsen slipped to a tie for 35th with a two-round mark of 159, alongside
Trevor Todd.
Guillermo Salazar was 41st (160), followed by individuals
Evan Lewis (T45th; 161) and
Cameron Gerue (T50th; 162).
IUP was up and down throughout the tournament, leading the tournament field on par three holes while finishing last in the field in par five scoring.
