PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The IUP track and field program sent a handful of athletes to compete at the Penn Relays hosted by Penn University over three days.
On Thursday, Mike Formica competed in the men's college 1,500m championship and placed 15th with a 3:47.14 time and placed second in his heat.
On Friday, the women's 4x100m relay competed and placed 16th with a 48.26 time. A part of the relay was Sterlene Scott, Cahsia Page, Renee Simmonds, and Emma Laughlin.
On Saturday, Kaylla Williams competed in the javelin throw and placed eighth with her best throw of 42.78m.
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The IUP track and field program competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic for a two day event on Friday and Saturday.
Sterlene Scott placed sixth in the women's 200m with a 26.26 time, and Anna Kadlubek placed ninth (26.54). In the men's 200m, Justin Egizio placed 13th with a 22.71 time.
Alyssa Hoover marked a top 20 finish in the women's 800m with a 2:26.49 time, and in the men's 800m, Gabe Pacyna placed 10th (1:57.71). Tom Brady placed in the top 10 with his ninth-place finish in the men's 1500m with a 4:02.33 time.
Dan Gibney placed third in the men's 5000m with a 15:23.45 time. Gwyn Keith and Stella Kuntz placed third and fourth in the women's 3000m steeplechase, respectively. Marco Cardone placed third and Nate Kuntz placed fifth in the men's 3000m steeple. The men's 4x400m relay placed fourth with a 3:34.09 time.
In the women's 5000m, Hannah Weaver placed fourth with an 18:34.44 time. In the women's high jump, Seasia Lovell placed eighth with a 1.50m mark and Ashton Botzan placed ninth in the men's pole vault with a 4.35m.
IUP placed two in the top 15 in the women's long jump with Hannah Yeykal in eighth (5.37m) and Nataiah Robertson in 14th (5.25m).
Matthew Cusatis placed first in the men's triple jump with a 14.16m mark while Evan Loro placed seventh (13.21m).
Renee Simmonds placed 11th in the shot put with an 11.57m throw.
Lexi Lovirch led IUP in the women's 10,000m with a sixth place finish (42.42.42) and Erik Moyer led in the men's 10,000m with his third place finish (33:58.92).
