IUP baseball tabbed five All-Conference selections

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- IUP baseball had five players named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) All-Conference honorees, with two first team selections and three second team selections, released Tuesday afternoon.

The all-conference teams and major awards are determined by a vote of the conference's head coaches.

For the second year in a row, Payton Conte (California) earned PSAC West Athlete of the Year honors, while Mike Conte (California) was named the PSAC West Coach of the Year. Ian Korn (Seton Hill) earned PSAC West Pitcher of the Year and Brady McGuire (Seton Hill) was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year.

The last time IUP had five All-PSAC selections was in 2013.

Senior Davin Landers (catcher) and junior Elijah Dunn (outfield) were named All-PSAC West First Team selections, marking their first All-Conference honors.

Landers was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week on April 14 and the NCBWA Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week on April 16. In the series against Clarion, through the first three games, he went a perfect 12-for-12 at the plate, scored seven runs, hit three doubles and a home run, and batted in four runners. Throughout the season, Landers has scored 18 runs, notched 33 hits, hit eight doubles and three homers, and had one triple. As the catcher, Landers is second on the team with 155 putouts and has 16 assists.

Dunn ranks seventh in the PSAC in home runs (11), 25th in RBIs (35), seventh in slugging percentage (.639), and has a fielding percentage of 1.000 with 61 putouts. Dunn combined for four home runs and 10 RBIs in the Slippery Rock series. He hit home runs in nine different games this season. Dunn ranks third on the team in runs (31), fifth in hits (38), stole nine bases, and hit five doubles. In program history, Dunn currently ranks fifth in season home runs and fifth in career home runs (22).

Sophomore Ricardo Aponte (outfield) was named All-PSAC Second Team for the second consecutive year. Aponte posts a .325 batting average, leads the team in runs (33), ranks second in hits (51) and doubles (12), and hit five home runs. Aponte ranks 28th in hits, 16th in doubles, and 13th in stolen bases across the conference. He has stolen 16 bases on 19 attempts. Aponte's best performance came against UPJ on April 25 when he went perfect at the plate, hit two home runs, scored four runs, and batted in five.

Fifth year transfers Mitchell Grosch (second base) and Mike Huber (designated hitter) were both named to the All-PSAC West Second Team.

Grosch posts a .318 batting average, ranks third on the team in runs (31) and hits (47), totals eight doubles, and hit five homers. At second base, he had 57 putouts and 74 assists.

Huber leads the team in four categories. Among the conference, he ranks 16th in batting average (.355), 17th in hits (54), and seventh in doubles (16). He has stolen seven bases, drawn 20 walks, and leads the team in runs (33) and in putouts (172). Huber has scored two runs in eight different games and three runs once, against Fairmont State when he went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, had two doubles, and four RBIs.

As a team, IUP is 24-25 overall and the number three seed in the PSAC West.

IUP begins action in the 2025 PSAC Baseball Tournament on Wednesday, May 7, against East Stroudsburg. First pitch from Cooper Park is set for 9:30 a.m.
