INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP field hockey team dropped a close 1-0 matchup to Lander University on Tuesday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.
Lander's Lauren Punt scored the lone goal at the 22:43 mark of the second quarter. Despite the loss, IUP controlled much of the tempo, holding an 11-2 advantage in penalty corners and putting four shots on goal. Lilly Fringer led the offense with two shots, while Maura van de Plas and Jess Davidson added one each.
Goalkeeper Celeste Pagliaroli made four saves on five shots faced to keep the Crimson Hawks within striking distance. Lander goalkeeper Isabel Elenga also stopped four shots to record the shutout.
IUP continued to press in the second half, but Lander's defense held firm to secure the win.
