CARLISLE, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania swimming teams turned in a strong all-around performance Friday afternoon, highlighted by multiple individual victories and relay wins, in a tri-meet against Dickinson and Bloomsburg.
The Crimson Hawks picked up several event wins on both the men's and women's sides, including a sweep of the 400-yard freestyle relays to close the meet. IUP's men's 400 free relay team of Stephen Goff, Nick Vaow, Trent Powell and Ty Uhlig finished first in 3:12.28, edging Bloomsburg by less than a second. On the women's side, Tina Cudina, Summer Esson, Kaleese Jallow and Cally Edner claimed the top spot in 3:40.58.
Uhlig also delivered a standout individual performance for IUP, winning the men's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.71. Benedetta Bellini followed with a victory in the women's 500 freestyle, touching the wall first in 5:20.89.
The Crimson Hawks were strong in the sprint events as well. Alexander Roth captured first place in the men's 50-yard backstroke in 25.65, while Patrik Kudla won the men's 50 breaststroke in 27.35. Jallow added another IUP victory by taking the women's 50 butterfly in 27.39.
IUP also produced several runner-up finishes. Bellini and Cally Edner finished second and third, respectively, in the women's 200 freestyle, while Taylor Peoples placed second in the women's 100 freestyle. Goff added a second-place finish in the men's 100 freestyle, touching in 48.98.
In relay action earlier in the meet, IUP's men's A team placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, while the women's A team finished second in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Overall, the meet served as a balanced showing for the Crimson Hawks, who collected points across all strokes and distances and closed the day with momentum in the final relay events.
