INDIANA, Pa. — Two IUP spring sports teams are ranked in the region as their seasons near the postseason. The Crimson Hawks women's tennis team is ranked No. 1 in the Atlantic Region, while IUP baseball sits at No. 8 in the Atlantic Regional rankings.
The women's tennis team is in its second straight week at No. 1 heading into the PSAC semifinals. IUP is 17-2 overall and 15-2 in the region. The Crimson Hawks defeated Millersville in the PSAC quarterfinals Monday and will play Bloomsburg in the semifinals Friday. The team is also ranked No. 24 in Division II by the ITA.
Baseball enters its final PSAC series against Pitt-Johnstown ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region. The Crimson Hawks are 27-18 in regional play. IUP is one of just two PSAC West teams in the rankings, while five of the other six teams are from the PSAC East.
This marks the first week of numerical regional rankings for baseball.
