SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — IUP baseball will compete in the PSAC Tournament for the fourth consecutive season, entering as the No. 2 seed in the West Division.
The Crimson Hawks will face Shippensburg, the No. 3 seed from the East, at 8 p.m. Thursday at Jack Critchfield Park.
IUP enters with a 17-11 PSAC West record, including eight wins against tournament teams from the west. Overall, the Crimson Hawks went 12-10 against PSAC Tournament qualifiers during the regular season.
IUP will lean on its lineup, which features four All-PSAC position players, led by first-team catcher Ricardo Aponte. Camden Rhude, David Kessler and Teague Hoover also earned all-conference honors.
Shippensburg finished 16-12 in the PSAC East and went 11-13 against tournament teams. The Raiders posted a 6-6 record against PSAC West opponents, including games against Gannon, Slippery Rock, Seton Hill and Lock Haven.
Shippensburg also had five players named to the All-PSAC East teams and led the PSAC in batting average at .341.
The winner of Thursday's game will advance to play Friday at 3 p.m. at Jack Critchfield Park.
