MONROEVILLE, Pa. – Three IUP volleyball student-athletes will have the opportunity to help develop the next generation of players after being selected as coaches for the Queens of the Burgh showcase tournament, set for July 24-25 at the All-American Field House.
 
Junior Brooke Kessler, junior Kyra Schmidt and senior Delaney Concannon were chosen to serve as coaches for the event, which features elite high school juniors and seniors competing in front of college coaches from across the region.
 
The trio played key roles in IUP's 2025 season, helping the Crimson Hawks advance to the NCAA Atlantic Regional final. Combined, Kessler, Schmidt and Concannon have appeared in 139 career matches for the Crimson Hawks.
 
Concannon earned All-PSAC honors as a junior, while Kessler led IUP with 3.83 digs per set during the 2025 campaign. Schmidt ranked among the team's leaders with 123 kills.
 
The Queens of the Burgh event gives current college players the opportunity to draft teams from the participating athletes before coaching them through tournament play, providing high school players with additional instruction and exposure.
 
Kessler, Schmidt and Concannon also coach with the 3DGE Volleyball Club in the Pittsburgh area, where they continue to mentor young athletes while representing the IUP volleyball program.
 
Second-year head coach Avery Moore will also attend the showcase, speaking with prospective student-athletes and their families about the Crimson Hawk volleyball program.
