INDIANA, Pa. – No. 10 IUP field hockey overwhelmed D'Youville with an eight-goal offensive attack Saturday, firing 32 shots in a dominant performance at Miller Stadium.
The Crimson Hawks put 28 of their 32 attempts on goal and scored multiple times in three of the four periods, including three goals in the fourth.
Sophomores Hayven Mumma and Kasey Reiger led the scoring with two goals apiece, while Kylee Hager and Nina Stanich each recorded their first collegiate goals.
Senior Lily Fringer also found the cage, converting one of IUP's two penalty-stroke opportunities. Fringer finished with five shots, putting all five on goal.
Mumma was active throughout the afternoon, recording a team-high eight shots with seven on target. Hager provided a spark off the bench with four shots, placing all four on goal.
IUP controlled possession throughout the contest, generating 14 penalty corners compared to just two for D'Youville. The constant pressure forced the Saints' goalkeepers to make 20 saves, including 10 from starter Sarah Reifsnyder.
The Crimson Hawks were also strong defensively. Goalkeepers Celeste Pagliaroli and Megan Fritter combined for four saves. Pagliaroli made two saves over 49:12 in the cage before Fritter stopped both shots she faced during the final 10:48.
