INDIANA, Pa. – No. 10 IUP field hockey completed a dominant weekend Sunday with its second consecutive shutout, blanking Coker, 5-0, without allowing a shot.
The Crimson Hawks controlled the contest from start to finish, recording 24 shots and putting 19 on goal. IUP finished the weekend with a 13-0 scoring advantage after defeating D'Youville, 8-0, on Saturday.
Kasey Rieger powered the IUP attack with two goals on a team-high nine shots, placing eight on goal. Mia Gerick and Lily Fringer also found the cage from the starting lineup, while Nina Stanich added a goal off the bench.
Kenzie Rutledge recorded her first point as a Crimson Hawk, assisting on Rieger's first goal, which gave IUP its second score of the contest.
Fringer converted a penalty stroke for the second consecutive day after also scoring from the spot against D'Youville on Saturday.
IUP's defense prevented Coker from generating a single shot. Celeste Pagliaroli earned the victory in the cage without facing an attempt before freshman Kaelin Koehler entered later in the contest.
The appearance was Koehler's second of the season, bringing her total playing time to just over 13 minutes during her freshman campaign.
Across its two weekend victories, IUP outscored D'Youville and Coker by a combined 13-0 margin and held a 56-4 advantage in shots. The Crimson Hawks placed 49 of those 56 attempts on goal while keeping both opponents off the scoreboard.
