Marina Wareham was named an IUP Athlete of the Week in an announcement made Monday for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 21.
Wareham scored a career-high 28 points Wednesday on Senior Night and broke the single-game record for 3-pointers in a 79-52 win over Pitt-Johnstown. Her eight 3-pointers bested the previous single-game high of seven 3’s, while she went over the 20-point mark for the third time this season.
The senior point guard, in her first year in the starting lineup, was nearly perfect from the field, connecting on 10-of-11 shots overall and eight-of-nine from beyond the arc. Wareham also pitched in with four rebounds and three assists.
On the year, Wareham is averaging 10.9 points per game, 3.9 assists per game and shooting 45.6 percent from the floor, including 44.8 percent on 3-pointers. Wareham leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 3-point field goal percentage, is sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio and 12th in assists per game.
