Redshirt junior quarterback Lenny Williams, Jr. has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, October 16.
Williams registered yet another standout performance, as the third-year starting signal caller led the third-ranked Crimson Hawks to a 34-17 rivalry win at ninth-ranked Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon. Williams completed 82.1 percent of his passes, going 23-of-28 for 225 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. The dual threat added 44 rushing yards on seven carries.
IUP improved to 7-0 on the season with the victory, with Williams increasing his completion percentage to 69.8 percent, one of the best in Division II. It was also his sixth straight game with at least two touchdown passes, bringing his total to a career-high 17 with just four interceptions.
It's Williams' second IUP weekly honor of 2017 and the seventh of his career.
