Redshirt sophomore cornerback JR Stevens has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, Nov. 6.

Stevens had another big individual performance as he helped the No. 3/1 IUP football team to a 36-10 victory at Mercyhurst as the Crimson Hawks improved to 10-0 on the season. The cornerback intercepted two passes and broke up another two, as he and the rest of the IUP defense limited the Lakers to just 133 passing yards.

Stevens now has six interceptions on the season and with his 15 pass breakups, leads all of Division II with 21 total passes defensed. He has a pair of two-interception games and has defensed 13 total passes in the last four games combined.

It was Stevens’ first career IUP weekly award.
