Sophomore swimmer Paige Mikesell and senior basketball guard Malik Miller were named IUP Athletes of the Week, announced Monday morning by the sports information office.

This is Mikesell's fourth career IUP weekly honor, including her third of the season. It's the sixth career IUP weekly award for Miller with four of those coming this season.

Mikesell was named the women's Most Outstanding Swimmer at the 2020 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PaSAC) Swimming Championships in York this weekend.

Mikesell scored 167 points during the four-day conference championship meet at the Graham Aquatic Center. She won four PSAC titles – three individual, one relay – broke two meet records and one school mark, and had one NCAA Division II A standard and four B standard times.

She won the 100 yard and 200 yard butterfly, the 200 yard IM and swam the lead leg on the winning 800 yard freestyle relay. Her 200 time of 1:49.32 during the 800 free relay broke the PSAC meet record and was an NCAA B standard. She also broke the conference meet record and hit an NCAA A cut time in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:59.22.

Mikesell's time of 54.09 seconds in the 100 yard butterfly broke IUP's eight-year old record held by Jackie Hynson and was an NCAA B standard. Other B standards included the 100 freestyle and 200 IM.

During an historic week, Miller had a night that won't be forgotten in Wednesday's 86-67 win over Edinboro, posting a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists.

It was just the third-ever triple-double in IUP men's basketball program history and the first since Yancey Taylor during the 1995 regional final win over Cal U.

Miller shot 8-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range to reach his 20 points. He reached 10 assists on a 3-pointer from the corner by Shawndale Jones with 9:25 left in the half and finished with just one turnover.

He reached his triple-double on an offensive rebound with 4:02 remaining, chasing down his own miss on a 3-pointer, jumping out-of-bounds to toss it back into play.

Miller dealt with sickness before IUP's next game on Saturday, but still scored 17 points with five assists and three steals in just 21 minutes off the bench. He shot 7-of-10 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range.

For the week Miller averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 assists and 7.0 rebounds in just 28.5 minutes. He shot 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from the field, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range.
