Crimson Hawks Lose Heartbreaker to Slippery Rock

The IUP field hockey team dominated for most of the game but couldn't find the back of the net and dropped a heart breaking 1-0 loss to Slippery Rock in PSAC West action Saturday night.

The Crimson Hawks were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss combined with a Mansfield win. IUP closed out the season at 8-9 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

The Crimson Hawks outshot Slippery Rock (6-14, 3-5 PSAC West) 24-6 but at 50:09 Katie Krouse took a Gabrielle Malischak pass and put it in for the games only score.

IUP had many scoring chances but the best was on a Danielle Edwards penalty shot early in the second half. Edwards took the shot after a yellow card was issued to Meghan McKinney and missed the net wide.

Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) paced the Crimson Hawk offense with 10 shots. Edwards tallied five shots and Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) added four shots.

Lydia Dolly (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) took the loss for IUP. Lisa Belcastro picked up the win in net making 10 saves.
