Shay Moreno, a former college volleyball standout and head coach, has joined the IUP coaching staff as a graduate assistant, Crimson Hawk head coach Zach Shaver announced.
Moreno was the head women's volleyball coach at Penn State Greater Allegheny last season while at the same time serving as the head coach of the boy's junior varsity team at Bethel Park High School.
Prior to her move to Pennsylvania, Moreno was the head coach of the junior varsity volleyball team at Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Fulton County, Ga., a position she held from May 2006 to September 2008.
Moreno was a four-year starter at Division I Eastern Kentucky from 1998-2001. During her career with the Colonels she was named to all-tournament teams at the Marquette Challenge and the University of Georgia Invitational and was named the team MVP her senior season.
Moreno earned her bachelor's of arts degree in public relations from Eastern Kentucky in 2002 and was a Colonel Scholar for her academic achievements all four years. She is pursuing a master's degree in sports studies at IUP.
