Final Stats
Heather Robbins (Frederica, DE/Polytech) posted her first career hat trick and IUP scored early and often in a 10-0 win over visiting Shepherd in the season opener for the Crimson Hawks at the South Campus Field.
Robbins moved into fifth place on the all-time IUP list with 30 career goals. She had two goals in the opening minutes, giving the Crimson Hawks the lead when she scored just 1:35 into the contest on a cross from
Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn). Robbins quickly added another goal at the 3:19 mark on a pass from
Kyra Hricik (Moon Township, Pa./Moon).
She then completed the hat trick with a goal in the final minute on a rebound shot.
Kornock added a pair of goals in the first half, the first coming on an
Allison Keller (Exton, Pa./Downingtown) centering pass and the second on an unassisted tally to set the halftime score at 4-0.
IUP opened the second half just like the first, scoring twice in the first two minutes. Adriana Konstaninides scored unassisted at 47:13, and just 26 seconds later
Jordan Snook (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) deposited a
Lindsay Lobevero (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) pass into the net.
Tori Pikur (Gibsonia/Pine-Richland),
Paige Virgara (Pittsburgh/Keystone Oaks) and Keller each added a second half goal on the way to the shutout.
Kelly Brennan (Middletown/Middletown) and
Kelsey Dowling (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) both made one save in goal for the Crimson Hawks to share the shutout with
Mara Hricik (Moon Twp./Moon).
IUP is back in action Wednesday at California in its PSAC West opener. The Vulcans ended the Crimson Hawks' season a year ago with a win in the third round of the NCAA tournament.
