Darryl Webb (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) recorded his 45th career double-double to lift IUP to an 84-67 win over visiting Slippery Rock Saturday night at Memorial Field House.
Webb scored 30 points just two off his career high against Seton Hill earlier this season and his best in PSAC action. Webb moved past Eddie Peterson for second in school history now with 1644 just 72 points off the school record. Webb completed the double-double with 11 rebounds and also had three blocks.
Julian Sanders (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) added 20 points and grabbing four boards.
Ashton Smith (Scarborough, ON/West Hill Collegiate) also reached double figures with 14 points, three assists, and two rebounds.
The Crimson Hawks held a 31-27 lead with 5:05 remaining in the first half after Slippery Rock's Maron Brown hit a layup. Smith hit a 3-pointer at 4:36 that sparked the Crimson Hawks 17-5 run to close out the half and give IUP a comfortable 48-32 lead at the half.
IUP took advantage at the charity stripe going 21 of 26 including 11 of 13 from Webb which ties a career high for free throws made.
The Crimson Hawks extended their winning streak at Memorial Field House to 30 games and have won 40 of their last 42 over the past three seasons. The Crimson Hawks are also 26-4 in the PSAC West over the past three seasons including wins in 14 of its last 15 conference games.
After this four-game home stand the Crimson Hawks travel to California for their first PSAC West road game Wednesday at 8 p.m.
