IUP Adds Eight More Victories in Session Two of the Crimson Hawk Dual Invite

Five different IUP swimmers won individual event titles, and the Crimson Hawks added three relay victories during the second session of the Crimson Hawk Dual Invite at the John A. Pidgeon Natatorium.

IUP has leads in all six scored dual meets – three men and three women – against Gannon, Bloomsburg and Shippensburg.

The highlight of morning session came in the women's 200 freestyle when IUP claimed the top three spots. Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) took first place in 1:57.30 followed by Bethany Johnston (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) (1:58.61) and Christina Janovsky (1:59.71).

Also winning for the women were Jackie Hynson (King George, VA/King George) in the 400 IM (4:42.49), Allyson Mitidieri (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.88) and Ally Long (Frederick, MD/Frederick) in the 100 backstroke (1:01.12).

The 200 medley relay team of Hynson, Mitidieri, McAteer and Kala Misavage (Danville/Danville) won in a time of 1:51.77 as did the 800 freestyle relay group of Johnston, Janovsky, McAteer and Lauren Alshouse (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) in 8:00.57.

Dylan Mudlo (Kittanning, Pa./Kittanning) and Rudy da Costa (Durbin, South Africa/Westville) went 1-2 in the men's 400 IM, with Mudlo touching in 4:19.91 and da Costa finishing in 4:24.28. The IUP men won the 800 freestyle relay, with the team of Mudlo, Walter Smith (Annandale, VA/Annandale), Anthony Termin (Enola/Cumberland Valley) and Luke Shaheen (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) turning in a time of 7:11.21.

In addition to da Costa, three other men finished second, including Termin in the 200 freestyle (1:47.76), Stephen Long in the 100 butterfly (52.69) and Nate Stephens in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.42).

Alshouse was second in the women's 100 butterfly in 1:00.43.

The Crimson Hawk Dual Invite concludes with the final session this evening at 5:30.
