Jackie Hynson Concludes Outstanding Junior Season with Another Third Place Finish and PSAC Record

Jackie Hynson finished in the top six in three events at nationals this week

Jackie Hynson (King George, VA/King George) broke a PSAC all-time record for the second time in as many nights and took her second third-place finish of the week and fourth of her career on the final day of the NCAA swim meet in San Antonio, Texas.

Hynson posted a time of 1:59.45 in the 200 backstroke to break her own school record and take over the top spot in PSAC history that had been held by West Chester's Tammy Leane since 2006 with a time of 2:00.07. Hynson also set a conference record in the 200 butterfly on Friday.

She finished third in both the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke the past two years and was also sixth in the 400 individual medley on Thursday to give her three spots on the All-America team and one honorable mention nod to conclude her junior season.

Hynson scored a total of 49 points in the meet and teammate Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) added four with her 13th place finish in the 50 freestyle on Wednesday. McAteer competed in the 100 freestyle on Saturday but did not qualify for the finals.

The total of 53 points by the two IUP swimmers put the Crimson Hawks in 19th place in the final team standings.
