Jackie Hynson Sets PSAC Record and Finishes Third in 200 Butterfly at NCAA Meet

Jackie Hynson had three third-place finishes at nationals in her career

Jackie Hynson (King George, VA/King George) broke her own school record and established a new PSAC mark with her third-place finish in the 200 butterfly on the third day of the NCAA meet in San Antonio, Texas.

Hynson posted a time of 2:00.85 in the Friday night finals to gain her second All-America accolade of this year's meet and fourth in her career. The junior was sixth in the 400 individual medley on Thursday and was third in both the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke a year ago.

Hynson broke the conference record that was lowered earlier in the day by West Chester's Erin Fischer in the prelims. Prior to Friday, the record was held by Bethany Bankovich of Clarion since 2004, but Hynson's time shattered Bankovich's time of 2:02.03 by more than a second.

The time Hynson posted represents one of only three conference women's records not held by a swimmer from Clarion and West Chester.

Hynson and teammate Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) each have one event remaining at the NCAA meet, with Hynson competing in the 200 backstroke and McAteer in action in the 100 freestyle on the final day of the championships on Saturday.
