Allyson Mitidieri (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) took second in the 200 IM,
Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) finished third in the 50 freestyle and both were part of a fourth-place team in the 400 medley relay to highlight the first full day of the PSAC swim meet at Cumberland Valley High School.
The women are currently in third place with 127 points, trailing West Chester (194) and Clarion (163). The men are fifth with 124.5 points, with the Golden Rams and Golden Eagles also holding the top two spots in that competition.
Mitidieri lowered her own school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.96 while McAteer tied Petra Adamkova's 10-year-old school mark in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 23.49. The duo teamed with
Jackie Hynson (King George, VA/King George) and
Katie Lehman (Cary, NC/Green Hope) to take fourth in the 400 medley relay in 3:52.94 for another school record.
The men were led by five swimmers who placed in the top 16 in the 500 freestyle, led by
Dylan Mudlo (Kittanning, Pa./Kittanning) who took fifth with a time of 4:40.85. He was followed in the championship finals by
Anthony Termin (Enola/Cumberland Valley), who was sixth in 4:43.31, and
Kyle Ford (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly), who took eighth in 4:46.72.
David Donovan (Edinboro/General McLane) and
Luke Shaheen (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) were 11th and 16th, respectively, in the event. Donovan was also sixth in the 1000 freestyle, touching in 9:51.27, in opening day action on Thursday. Termin was 10th and
Conrad Kubaney (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) was 15th in that event.
Other top individual finishers for the IUP women included
Christina Janosky (Dover, Pa. /Dover ) and
Ally Long (Frederick, MD/Frederick), who were eighth and 10th, respectively, in the 1000 freestyle.
Lauren Alshouse (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley), Long and Janovsky took spots 10 through 12 in the 500 freestyle while Alshouse, Janosky, McAteer and
Nikki Newman (Meadville/Meadville) were fifth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:36.63.
Rudy da Costa (Durbin, South Africa/Westville) (200 IM) and
Walter Smith (Annandale, VA/Annandale) (50 freestyle) both finished in 13th place. Mudlo, Smith,
Doug McWhorter (Charlottesville, VA/Broadneck) and Stephen Long were sixth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.72) and da Costa, Long, McWhorter and Nate Stephens were seventh in the 400 medley relay (3:31.55).
The four-day meet continues through the weekend.
