Day 3 Results
IUP All-American junior
Jackie Hynson (King George, VA/King George) won her first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference individual title with a victory in the 400 individual medley in third day action at the PSAC meet at Cumberland Valley High School.
Hynson, who earned All-America honors in the 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly last year, had a winning time of 4:25.77 to defeat Morgan Oberlander of Clarion by 2.6 seconds.
Allyson Mitidieri (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) also reached the championship finals in the event and took fourth in 4:31.41 while
Stephanie Soracco (Ingram/PA Cyber) made the consolation finals and finished 12th.
The highlight for the IUP men was a trio of third-place finishes and a total of five swimmers who qualified for the championship finals.
Anthony Termin (Enola/Cumberland Valley) took third in the 200 freestyle in 1:43.66 and
Luke Shaheen (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) was sixth, less than two seconds behind with a time of 1:45.53.
Walter Smith (Annandale, VA/Annandale) was 11th in the event.
Dylan Mudlo (Kittanning, Pa./Kittanning) was third in the 400 IM, touching in 4:10.01,
Rudy da Costa (Durbin, South Africa/Westville) was seventh in 4:14.75 while
Kyle Ford (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) and
Matt Szczurek (Glenside/Cheltenham) were 10th and 16th, respectively.
Stephen Long rounded out the Crimson Hawk men who finished third, achieving that place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.90.
Bobby Sciscento (Lancaster/Manheim Township) made the consolation finals and took 16th place.
Christina Janosky (Dover, Pa. /Dover ) (11th),
Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) (15th) and
Bethany Johnston (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) (16th) scored in the women's 200 freestyle while
Katie Lehman (Cary, NC/Green Hope) and
Kala Misavage (Danville/Danville) had the final two spots of the 16 swimmers who advanced in the 100 butterfly.
Doug McWhorter (Charlottesville, VA/Broadneck) was 14th in the men's 100 backstroke.
The team of Hynson, Janosky, McAteer and
Lauren Alshouse (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) had the best relay finish of the night for IUP, taking third in the 800 freestyle relay in 7:41.93. The men's 800 freestyle relay unit of Termin, Mudlo, Shaheen and
David Donovan (Edinboro/General McLane) was fifth in 6:59.26.
The IUP women are in fourth place in the team standings with 229 points, trailing West Chester, Clarion and California. The men are fifth with 269.5 points and are behind leaders West Chester, Clarion, Shippensburg and Edinboro.
The four-day meet wraps up Sunday night.
