Day 4 Results
Jackie Hynson (King George, VA/King George) took first place finishes in the 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly on Sunday to give her three event titles at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference meet held at Cumberland Valley High School.
Hynson, an All-American in both events at last year's NCAA national meet, set a PSAC meet record with a winning time of 2:01.09 in the 200 backstroke and came within .21 of the meet record with a mark of 2:02.92 in the 200 butterfly. She also won the 400 IM on Saturday.
Hynson will attempt to become duplicate her All-America accolades at the NCAA meet which gets under way March 9 in San Antonio, Texas.
In the men's meet,
Doug McWhorter (Charlottesville, VA/Broadneck) finished in a tie for second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.39 while
David Donovan (Edinboro/General McLane) took third in the 1650 freestyle in 16:23.33.
Adding top eight finishes for the women were
Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford), who was sixth in the 100 freestyle (52.94),
Allyson Mitidieri (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), who was seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.16) and
Ally Long (Frederick, MD/Frederick), who took eighth in the 1650 freestyle (17:39.81).
Other top eight placings were turned in by
Rudy da Costa (Durbin, South Africa/Westville), who was sixth in the 200 backstroke (1:55.84) and
Dylan Mudlo (Kittanning, Pa./Kittanning), who finished eighth in the 200 butterfly (1:57.70).
Both the women's and men's 400 freestyle relay team were fifth. The women's team of Hynson, McAteer,
Lauren Alshouse (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) and
Christina Janosky (Dover, Pa. /Dover ) had a time of 3:31.76 while the men's squad of McWhorter, Mudlo, Stephen Long and
Walter Smith (Annandale, VA/Annandale) touched in 3:09.90.
Rounding out the scorers for the women were Alshouse (13th in the 100 freestyle) and
Kala Misavage (Danville/Danville) (14th in the 200 butterfly). Also scoring for the men were Smith and
Luke Shaheen (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona), who were 12th and 16th, respectively, in the 100 freestyle,
Kyle Ford (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly) (14th in the 200 backstroke) and
Matt Szczurek (Glenside/Cheltenham) (15th in the 1650 freestyle).
The women finished with 340 points, just one shy of California for third place, and the men took sixth place. West Chester won both team titles.
