Kristen Tunno (Seaford, Va./Grafton) had five hits in two games and
Erin Holloway (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) picked up the win in both contests, leading IUP to an 8-3 win over Northwood and a 4-2 victory over St. Cloud State to remain undefeated at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Crimson Hawks improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 on their spring trip to Florida with eight more games remaining. IUP is off on Monday before facing University of the Sciences and Ashland on Tuesday.
In the win over Northwood, Tunno went 2-for-4 and was joined by
Megan McCormick (Evans City/Seneca Valley) with a pair of RBIs. Holloway went the distance in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out eight.
Stefanie Poates, the reigning PSAC Central Freshman of the Year, got the Crimson Hawks started with a solo homer in the second.
Michelle Bivona (Thorndale, Pa./Coatesville) cleared the fence in left to open the third, and Tunno later added a run-scoring single for a 3-0 lead.
McCormick doubled in two in a three-run fourth before the Timberwolves cut their deficit in half with three runs in the fifth, including a two-run single by Sam Zaborowski. IUP answered with a double by
Kelsey Ferguson (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) and an RBI single by Tunno in the sixth and another insurance run in the seventh.
The Crimson Hawks scored single runs in the first and second innings to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead over St. Cloud State.
Monica Iachini (Claysburg/Claysburg-Kimmel) walked, moved to third on a double by McCormick and scored on a Poates fielder's choice in the first, and
Mary Ward (Hatfield/North Penn) walked, stole second and came across on a
Dee Eppinger (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) single an inning later.
St. Cloud State tied it with runs in the third and fifth, but IUP took the lead for good with two in the sixth. Tunno singled for her third hit of the game and scored on a double by Bivona, who scored the final run of the game on a base hit by
Raquel Rugani (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour ).
Holloway relieved starter
Kelly King (Nazareth/Bethlehem Catholic) in the fifth and pitched 2 2-3 innings of no-hit ball with five strikeouts. She ended the game by striking out the side in the seventh to remain undefeated in four decisions this season.
