The Crimson Hawks celebrated senior day Friday with split with Lock Haven with an 8-0 win in the opener and a 5-4 loss in the second half of the doubleheader Friday afternoon at Podbielski Field.
In game one
Erin Holloway (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) pitched a five-inning gem shutting out the Lady Eagles allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out three.
The Crimson Hawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead taking advantage of two Lock Haven errors in the bottom of the first inning on only one hit by
Dee Eppinger (North Wales, Pa./North Penn).
After scoring a run in the second and two in the third the Crimson Hawks closed the door in the fifth with three runs as
Raquel Rugani (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour ),
Mary Ward (Hatfield/North Penn) and
Jen Beaver (Chester Springs/Owen J. Roberts) belted three straight RBI singles to invoke the mercy rule.
In game two Lock Haven broke a 1-1 tie when it scored three runs keyed by a two-run by Nicole Smith.
The Crimson Hawks responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs of their own that was capped by an RBI single by senior
Kelsey Ferguson (Indiana, Pa./Indiana).
Conference play continues for the Crimson Hawks as they travel to Bloomsburg on Saturday and hosting Clarion on Sunday.
