Brianna Liebold, Brandon Ford, Leander Toney Win Event Titles at PSAC Outdoor Meet

Brianna Liebold and Brandon Ford won triple jump titles and Leander Toney finished first in the high jump to highlight the IUP track and field team's performance on the final day of the PSAC meet at Slippery Rock.

Liebold had a winning mark of 38 feet, 11 ¾ inches to add to her long jump title Friday and give her a total of five PSAC titles in her career encompassing outdoor and indoor track and field. She also scored in the 100 meters by finishing third with a time of 12.41.

Liebold led three IUP athletes to finish in the top eight in the triple jump, with Laurie Ajavon taking fifth (37-0 ½) and Liz Tepsic placing eighth (35-3). Laura Nientimp joined Liebold as a scorer in the 100, taking seventh in 12.80.

Ford won his first PSAC title with a jump of 47-11 ¼ while Toney repeated as the conference champion in the high jump by clearing the bar at 6-9 ½. Yoann Godet also scored in the high jump, tying for fourth at 6-3 ½.

The women's 4 x 100 meter relay team turned in a runner-up finish, with the group of Liebold, Ajavon, Nientimp and Brooke McDaniel crossing in 47.47. McDaniel was sixth in the 400 meters (57.97) and Nicole Shannon was sixth in the javelin (116-6).

After Ford and Toney, Jared Long was the next highest finisher for the Crimson Hawk men, taking fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 53.60. Steve Wainwright was sixth in the 800 meters (1:53.50), Clint Keller was seventh in the steeplechase (9:40.68) and Victor Costello was eighth in the 1500 meters (4:00.08).

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Hopeton Bailey, Nafee Harris, Alex Patterson and Elijah Williams finished fifth in 42.48.

The IUP women finished in fifth place in the team standings with 70.5 points, trailing champion Shippensburg (170.5), Slippery Rock, Kutztown and East Stroudsburg. The men scored 45.5 points to finish seventh, with Shippensburg also winning that title.
