IUP Field Hockey Defeats Seton Hill 3-1

Anouk Sickman scored a goal and an assist in IUP's seventh win of the season

Box Score

GREENSBURG, PA - Sarah Lemieux (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman) played 35 scoreless minutes in goal and had a career-high 10 saves as the Crimson Hawks defeated Seton Hill by a score of 3-1 Tuesday.

IUP, 8-2, 3-1 in the PSAC West, broke a scoreless tie late in the first half when Ashley Mosner (Newton, NJ/Newton) deposited a pass from Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) in the back of the cage. The Crimson Hawks would take a 1-0 lead into the half thanks to superb goaltending by Lemiuex.

The Griffins would respond quickly in the second half when Michelle Hogan scored just minutes into the half, but the score would not stay tied for long. Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season off of a Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) assist to give the Crimson Hawks the lead midway through the second half, and Nicole Grimaldi (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) added a goal with just under 15 minutes to play to secure the IUP victory.

In addition to Lemieux, Brittany Varacallo (New Britain/Central Bucks South) also came up large in goal for the Crimson Hawks, allowing just one goal and saving two shots in 35 minutes.

IUP hits the road for games against Millersville and Bloomsburg this weekend before returning home to host Slippery Rock on October 5 at 7:00 p.m.
