Patton's 11th Overall Finish Leads IUP to 14th Place at Paul Short

BETHLEHEM, PA – Nick Patton (Canton/Canton)'s 11th place finish helped the Crimson Hawks to a 14th overall team finish in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.

Patton finished with a time of 25:44, just one second behind the 10th place finisher.

Victor Costello (Moscow/North Pocono) came in 28th with a time of 26:02. Rounding out the top five for the men was Greg Beaudette (Johnston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken), Alex Hampel (Middletown, Del/Salesianum) and Andrew Morgan (Gold, Pa. /Northern Potter) who finished 121st, 130th and 160th respectively.

Princeton claimed the top finish in the men's brown bracket, followed by Albany, Monmouth, Canisius and St. Lawrence. IUP was the top finishing PSAC school. California came in 20th, West Chester finished in 31st, Kutztown came in 34th, Mansfield came in 42nd and Bloomsburg rounded out the PSAC schools coming in 45th of 46 teams.

The men will have one final tune-up before heading to the PSAC Championships on Oct. 26. Next week, they will travel to Pittsburgh to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. Last season, the Crimson Hawks finished in 8th place at Carnegie Mellon. The race will get underway at 10 a.m.
