SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The IUP women's tennis team wrapped up their fall season with a pair of dual match wins in Shippensburg on Saturday.
The Crimson Hawks defeated Bloomsburg 8-1 this morning before an easy 9-0 win over Shippensburg this afternoon.
In the opening against the Huskies,
Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) and
Ranvita Mahto (Burlington, ON/Robert Bateman) each scored 6-0, 6-0 singles victories at the two and four spots over Caitlin Flynn and Alyssa Liples, respectively.
At five,
Alanna McFail (Fort Washington, Md. /St. John's College ) defeated Lindsey Tennis 6-0, 6-1 and
Roxana Viviana Yeh (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Cangallo Schule) had a 6-4, 6-1 win over Natalie Greenholt at six.
Sophie Butland (Taunton, Somerset U.K./Bishop Fox's Community School) had IUP's fifth singles win, defeating Erin Reitenaur 6-0, 6-4 at number three.
Abby McCormick (Bethel Park, Pa. /Bethel Park) fell at the number one spot, 6-3, 7-5 to Maddie Graziani.
The Crimson Hawks took all five doubles matchups, including an 8-2 win at number one from Timko and McCormick over Graziani and Liples. McFail and Butland defeated Reitenaur and Flynn 8-4 and two and
Erika Schnaas (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Nacional Preparatoria ) and Yeh had an identical score in a win at three over Greenholt and Nicole Slagle.
The Crimson Hawks gave up just four points in singles action against Shippensburg, getting two 6-0, 6-0 wins and four 6-0, 6-1 victories.
Timko and Mahto blanked Julia Saintz and Hannah Wolfe at two and four, respectively. McCormick beat Brittnee Buckley 6-1, 6-0 at one, while Butland beat Danica Delgado 6-0, 6-1 and McFail beat Kayla Strohl 6-0, 6-1. At six, Yeh defeated Emilee Luttman 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Timko and McCormick defeated Buckley and Saintz 8-0 at number one. McFail and Butland beat Delgado and Strohl 8-2 at number two and Mahto and Schnaas beat wolfe and Luttman 8-0 at three.
This ends the fall season for the Crimson Hawks, who will return to action for the spring season on Feb. 9 against Case Western Reserve in Oberlin, Ohio.
