AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks head east for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover play in Kutztown, Pa. to take on the Golden Bears. IUP has opened up the season on a roll, winning nine straight. Ranked seventh in the nation with a record of 9-0, 3-0, the Crimson Hawks dominated Shippensburg in their last game, defeating the Raiders by 31 points. Kutztown enters the game with a 3-5, 1-2 record, falling in their last competition against Pitt-Johnstown.

THE SERIES
IUP holds the all-time series advantage with the Golden Bears, defeating them 16 times, while dropping just six matchups. The Crimson Hawks have won the last three.

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE
The Crimson Hawks boast the nation's No. 2 scoring defense, holding opponents to just 57.1 points per game, a mark that is good for first in the PSAC. No opponent has ever scored more than 70 and IUP has held teams to under 60 points in its last six games. In the month of December, opponents are putting up just 54 points per game. On average, IUP's opponents are shooting just 37.0 percent from the field, 25.8 percent from behind the arc and 77.5 percent from the free throw line.

FROM THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM
While the Crimson Hawks boast the PSAC's No. 1 scoring defense, the Golden Bears sit at the bottom of the pack, allowing opponents to score an average of 78.4 points per game. Kutztown has surrenered 80+ points in their previous three games.

DOUBLE DOUBLE
R-Jr. F Jeremy Jeffers (Wilson, N.C./Greenfield School) recorded his first career double-double against Shippensburg, finishing the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Drake transfer was the only Crimson Hawk to register double figures in rebounding and one of five to finish the game with double digit scoring numbers.

FIVE'S COMPANY
For the first time in the short 2013-14 season, five Crimson Hawks recorded double digit scoring figures Wednesday against Shippensburg. Sr. G Mathis Keita (Thionville, France/Insep) led the way with 19, followed by So. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) and Jr. G Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) with 11. Jeffers and R-So. F Devon Cottrell (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Gateway) each posted 10. IUP has had four players in double digits six times and three in double digits twice.

ASSIST KING
In addition to averaging 12.7 points per game, Chance is also third in the conference in assists, averaging 4.1 helpers per game. The team's assist leader has played in 45 straight games in which he has recorded at least one assist and posted a season-high seven assists against Shaw Nov. 30.

GOODBYE 2013
Saturday's game will be the Crimson Hawk's final competition of 2013. On the year (spanning two seasons), they've posted a record of 27-5, their third PSAC Championship in the last four years and their fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance. 

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
The Golden Bears sit in sixth place in the PSAC East with a record of 3-5, 1-2. They fell in their last competition at the hands of Pitt-Johnstown 86-75. So. G/F Tracy Peal leads the way for Kutztown, averaging 15.5 points per game. He was the team's leading scoring in the loss at Pitt-Johnstown, notching 24 points. Fr. G Austin Beidelman has been hot of late, posting 27 points against Clarion and 16 against West Chester. He's averaging 12.5 points per game in addition to 3.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists. 

CRIMSON HAWKS BY THE NUMBERS 
57.1 The average number of points IUP's opponents are scoring in nine games this season. That's good for second in the nation and first in the PSAC. 
5 The number of Crimson Hawks who posted double-digit scoring numbers Wednesday, the first time that has happened this season. 
7 IUP's national ranking, a spot they've held for three weeks and the highest ranking of the season. They opened up the season in the 14th spot. 
39 The number of conference victories IUP has had over the previous three seasons, tops in the PSAC. 
16.6 The average number of points the Crimson Hawks are defeating opponents by, second in the conference. 
883 The number of points Sr. F Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) has posted in his career. He needs just 117 to hit the 1,000-point mark. At this season's pace, he'll accomplish that at Edinboro Jan. 22.
1,428 The average number of fans in attendance for each of IUP's six home games this season. That's first in the conference, more than 500 people above second place Gannon. 
4 The number of times IUP has opened up the season with nine straight wins. They won 11 straight in 2009-10 and 1995-96, 21 straight in 1994-95 and 26 straight in 1993-94.
3 The number of PSAC championships the Crimson Hawks have won in the last four years.
