AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks have struggled to score in recent weeks and are now just 3-2 in the month of February. IUP will need to regroup quickly with a talented Edinboro squad coming to town with playoff positioning at stake. With a win, IUP can all but lock up at least a tie for first place in the West.

LAST TIME OUT
Jr. G Mathis Keita (Thionville, France/Insep) scored a team-high 12 points and had three steals but a 20-3 second half Laker run propelled Mercyhurst to a 57-48 win over the Crimson Hawks Saturday afternoon. IUP shot just 36.8% from the floor as a team and was outrebounded 30-21. Jr. F Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) chipped in 9 points for the Crimson Hawks.

LAST MEETING
Sr. C Dan Ayebo (Indiana/Indiana) scored 13 points, including eight in overtime as the Crimson Hawks hung on for a wild 86-75 win at Edinboro in late January. Keita netted 21 points and grabbed nine boards, while Sr. G Anthony Wells (Cleveland, OH/Shaker Heights) finished with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists. IUP outscored the Fighting Scots 13-2 in the extra session after coughing up a double-digit lead in the second half. Jay Fletcher was unstoppable for Edinboro, scoring 25 points and seven three-pointers in the second frame alone for a game-high 30 points.

UNSELFISH PLAY
Much of the Crimson Hawks' success this season can be attributed to their ability to share the basketball. IUP leads the PSAC in assists with 15.3 per contest, while So. G Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) ranks seventh in both assists and assist-to-turnover ratio this year.

COLLISION COURSE
It will be a battle of superior strengths Wednesday as IUP's conference-leading defense takes on one of the best offensive attacks in the PSAC in Edinboro. The Crimson Hawks lead the conference in scoring defense (57.1), while the Fighting Scots rank third in scoring offense (75.8) and first in three-pointers made per game (7.5).

NATIONAL POLLS
The Crimson Hawks have fallen three spots to 14th in the latest NABC Division II Poll this week after falling to Mercyhurst Saturday. PSAC East rival East Stroudsburg is the highest ranked team at 10th, while Atlantic Region foe West Liberty is ranked third.

THE HEAD COACH
Joe Lombardi (Youngstown State, '81) enters his seventh season as the head coach of the IUP men's basketball program after leading the Crimson Hawks to a third consecutive PSAC regular season title and an appearance in the NCAA tournament for a fourth straight season in 2011-12. Prior to his time with the Crimson Hawks, Lombardi served as an assistant coach at Saint Francis (PA), LaSalle, and the University of Pittsburgh. Lombardi has a career record of 142-63 at IUP.
