CLERMONT, FL - The IUP softball team swept a twinbill with Indiana Tech at the National Training Center (NTC) Spring Games in Clermont, Florida Friday. The Crimson Hawks took game one 4-0, before completing the sweep with a 5-2 win in game two.
Alexa Campbell (Manheim/Manheim Central ) gave up just four hits in a complete game shutout in game one, while
Tara Senn (Eagle/Downington East) surrendered just two unearned runs in 4.1 innings of work to get the win in game two.
Stefanie McCoy (New Paris/Chestnut Ridge) powered the Crimson Hawks offense in game one, going 2-for-4 with a run batted in and two runs scored. The sophomore completed her big day with a hit and two RBI in game two.
Jasa Mitchell (Snow Shoe/Bald Eagle Area) and
Jen Beaver (Chester Springs/Owen J. Roberts) also had runs batted in for IUP in game one, while Mitchell also knocked in a run in game two.
The Crimson Hawks (10-5) head north this Friday to take on Mansfield in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central doubleheader. Game times from Mansfield are set for 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
