Jasa Mitchell notched a pair of hits for the Crimson Hawks in game two Saturday
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BLOOMSBURG, PA - Alexa Campbell (Manheim/Manheim Central ) allowed just one earned run in 6.2 innings in game one, but a pair of fantastic performances by the Bloomsburg pitching staff would propel the Huskies to a doubleheader sweep of the IUP softball team in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central action Saturday.

BLOOMSBURG 1, IUP 0

Game one was just another chapter in the brewing rivalry between the PSAC's top teams, as neither team was able to plate a run in the first six innings of play. The Crimson Hawks would threaten in the seventh when Jasa Mitchell (Snow Shoe/Bald Eagle Area) doubled to center with just one out, but Bloomsburg hurler Cait Paine would strike out the next two in order to preserve the tie.

The game would not stay tied for long, however, as Mandy Baer would smack an RBI single that scored Chrissy Belko to send the Huskies into the win column in walk-off fashion. Baer was 2-for-4 in game one, while Mandy Black and Rachell Fredell each went 2-for-3.

Campbell was fantastic in the circle for the Crimson Hawks (10-7, 0-2 PSAC Central), but Paine was nearly perfect, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out 15 in a complete game shutout. Mitchell's double in the seventh was the only time that Paine allowed an IUP batter to advance into scoring position.

Mitchell went 1-for-2 with a walk for the Crimson Hawks, while Kaylee Prendergast (West Chester/Villa Maria Academy) had IUP's only other hit in game one.

BLOOMSBURG 6, IUP 0

IUP ran into another pitching buzzsaw in game two in the form of Caitlin O'Connor, who powered the Huskies to a 6-0 win in game two. O'Connor allowed just three hits and walked four in a complete game shutout, Bloomsburg's second of the day.

The Huskies (16-4, 2-0 PSAC Central) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with homers from Belko and Fredell, while an Erica Yanora triple in the sixth scored a pair of runs to salt away the sweep. Tara Senn (Eagle/Downington East) took the loss for the Crimson Hawks, surrendering four earned runs on 11 hits in six innings of work.

Mitchell proved to be a tough out once again for IUP, going 2-for-3 at the plate in game two. Angela Devereaux (Oakdale/West Allegheny) had IUP's only other hit, while Stefanie McCoy (New Paris/Chestnut Ridge) worked a pair of walks.

The Crimson Hawks will travel to Mansfield to make up a previously postponed doubleheader this Tuesday, before returning home to host Clarion on April 5. The twinbill with the Mountaineers is set for 2:30 and 5:30 p.m.
