Mosner's Goal Not Enough as IUP Falls to No. 3 West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA – Paige Mosner (Newton, NJ/Newton) scored IUP's only goal to tie the game against No. 3 West Chester, but the Crimson Hawks were unable to hold on, falling 2-1.

Mosner's goal came on the only shot for the  Crimson Hawks, recorded at the 18:02 minute mark. Erica Griffith added the assist.

The Golden Rams got things going in the 13th minute of play when Kelsei Lykens knocked in a pass from Stef Pirri. Lykens' sixth goal of the season put West Chester up 1-0 until Mosner's shot was able to tie the game minutes later.

IUP and West Chester headed into the second half in a 1-1 tie. However, just four minutes into the second half, the Golden Rams took the 2-1 lead and held on for the victory.

The Crimson Hawks did not record a shot during the second half, compared to the eight credited to the Golden Rams. IUP goalie Darian Shuker (Reading, Pa./Exeter ) made seven saves, keeping the game close.

With the loss, the Crimson Hawks fall to 1-6 (0-5). They will travel to No. 9 Kutztown tomorrow to take on the Golden Bears at 1 p.m. They will return home Oct. 2 to face 10th-ranked Slippery Rock in a 7 p.m. game at George P. Miller Stadium.
