Box Score

LIMESTONE, SC – In a game that saw all of the scoring done in the first half of play, the sixth-ranked IUP field hockey team fell on the road to Limestone 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Crimson Hawks to 1-1 on the season as they wrap up their two game trip to South Carolina.

IUP jumped on top right away with back-to-back goals by Jessica Kida and Casey McGowan (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) in the game's first seven minutes. The goals came less than a minute apart as the Crimson Hawks looked for a repeat of the season-opening 18-1 victory the previous day.

Limestone answered at the 13:37 mark with a goal to get on the scoreboard before tying the game 10 minutes later. Both goals came off the stick of Nicolle Grant. Less than five minutes before half, Limestone took the lead with a rebound off the stick of Jill Funkhouser.

Limestone was able to slow the Crimson Hawks offense, limiting IUP to just seven shots on goal, including two in the second half.

Darian Shuker (Reading, Pa./Exeter ) started and spent the entire time in the cage for the Crimson Hawks, saving seven shots.

The Crimson Hawks return to Pennsylvania for a three-game home stand beginning on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against Seton Hill.
