AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks continue their eastern roadtrip, taking on the Mountaineers of Mansfield in a Friday afternoon matchup. IUP comes in winners of 10 straight to open the season, cruising to a 32-point victory over Kutztown in the final game of 2013. Ranked seventh in the nation, the Crimson Hawks sit atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West with a perfect 10-0, 3-0 mark. Mansfield enters with a record of 2-9, 0-4, sitting in last place in the PSAC East. They fell to Pitt-Johnstown in their previous game.

MOVIN' UP
The Crimson Hawks jumped one spot to No. 6 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll this week. The Hawks take advantage of a loss from the former No. 5 Western Washington to move one step higher.

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE
The Crimson Hawks boast the nation's No. 1 scoring defense, holding opponents to just 57.0 points per game. Allowing 2.4 points per game less than second place Rollins, the Crimson Hawks have dominated opponents in the 2013-14 season, claiming victories by an average of 18.1 points. No opponent has scored more than 70 against IUP and teams have been held to under 60 points in seven straight games. In the month of December, opponents averaged just 54.4 points per game.

GOING OUT WITH A BANG
IUP put on an offensive show against Kutztown Dec. 21, closing out 2013 with a 32-point victory. Their 88 points were the most put up during the 2013-14 season and the most since they scored 92 against West Chester on March 8, 2013. They're seventh in the PSAC, averaging 75.1 points per game.

UNSELFISH LEADER
Jr. G Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) tied a career high with eight assists against Kutztown, while setting a career mark with seven steals. IUP's point guard, who is third in the PSAC in minutes played with 34.8 per game, sits at second in the conference in helpers,
averaging 4.5 per game.

KEITA FOR PRESIDENT
Playing in his 11th straight game scoring in double figures, Sr. G Mathis Keita (Thionville, France/Insep) notched 26 points in the win over the Golden Bears. Keita has played in six straight games with a field goal percentage above .400 and is sixth in the PSAC in scoring, averaging a team-leading 18.5 points per game. He has scored 20 or more four times this season.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT
After sitting out the fall semester following his transfer from Cheyney, So. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) saw his first action as a Crimson Hawk against Millersville Dec. 17. Playing and starting in three games, the reigning PSAC East Freshman of the Year is averaging 14.7 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game. He's shooting 52.9 % from the floor and has only committed five turnovers in 73 minutes of play.

NUMBER 900
The next point for Sr. F Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) gets him one step closer to a career milestone. Finishing the game against Kutztown with 16 points put the four-year player at 899 total points. He's just 101 shy of the 1,000-point mark. At this season's pace, he'll reach that on the road against Edinboro Jan. 22. 

SCOUTING MANSFIELD
The Mountaineers come in on a one-game losing streak, falling to Pitt-Johnstown in PSAC crossover play. They've won two games on the season, defeating Pennsylvania College of Technology and Clarion. Jr. F Joe Bell leads the way for the Mountaineers, averaging 20.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Sr. G Charles Becoats (13.9 ppg) and Jr. F Charles Pemberton (11.6 ppg) also add depth for a team that scores 73.5 points per game on average. Mansifled's defense allows opponents to score 78.6 points per game on average.
