U92radio.comTHE GAMEThe 15th-ranked Crimson Hawks return to the floor at the Kovalchick Complex on Wednesday night when they host West Virginia Wesleyan. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM. IUP started the season with a pair of wins over the weekend, easily defeating Urbana and Johnson C. Smith by a combined 61 points. The Bobcats split a pair last weekend as they competed in the Joe Retton Classic at Fairmont State.
LAST TIME OUTIUP defeated Urbana 96-62 on Friday night and Johnson C. Smith 93-67 on Saturday. Sr. G
Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) averaged 20.0 PPG during the weekend, including a career-high 28 points on Friday, while Gr. G
Shawn Dyer (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) put up 22 points in the win on Saturday. The Crimson Hawks totaled 49 assists in their 67 made baskets during the weekend.
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYANThe Bobcats enter this matchup with a 1-1 record, losing to Fairmont State 73-54 before defeating Mercyhurst 72-62 last weekend. Jr. G Chris Dewberry has been the main threat for WV Wesleyan, averaging 19.5 PPG while shooting 50 pct from the floor. He scored 25 points on 7-12 FGs in 34 minutes in the win over Mercyhurst. Fr. G Anthony Richards has been a spark off the bench for the Bobcats, averaging 12.0 PPG while shooting 58.3 pct from 3-point range.
WHAT'S NEXTThe Crimson Hawks hit the road this weekend as they travel to Greensburg to take on Seton Hill in their first road contest. It will also be the PSAC opener for both teams, which will begin at time of 1 PM.
IUP IN THE POLLSThe Crimson Hawks checked in at No. 15 in the 2014-15 NABC Division II preseason poll. Other polls that were released this preseason had IUP at No. 9 (Sporting News and Basketball Times) and at No. 20
(Division II Bulletin).
REGIONAL RANKINGSNew this year is the D2SIDA regional rankings, which is voted on by a group of four sports information directors in each NCAA Division II region. In its latest release, IUP sits at No. 2 in the Atlantic, garning 1 first place vote.

Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) had a very efficient weekend from his point guard position, averaging 20.0 PPG and 7.5 APG in the Crimson Hawks opening 2 wins. He scored those points by shooting 59.1 pct (13-22) from the field and went a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. He also was on fire from downtown, making 8-11 3FGs.
CAREER NIGHTChance's best game came against Urbana as he put up a career-high 28 points, going 9-12 from the field and 6-8 from three-point range. Both the field goals and 3-pointers made were also new career-highs.

Shawn Dyer (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) has contributed all over the court in his first two games with the Crimson Hawks, averaging 13.0 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 5.0 APG in IUP's victories. He grabbed 10 boards, dished out 5 assists and had 2 steals against Urbana and shot the lights out on Saturday with 22 points on 8-14 shooting (6-11 3FGs), grabbing 5 rebounds and tallying 5 assists.
THREE-POINT FURYLed by Chance and Dyer, the Crimson Hawks have added the three-point shot to their arsenal as they went a combined 20-40 in their two wins over the weekend. In addition to Chance and Dyer, R-Fr. G
Stefan Osborne (Victoria, Australia/St. Patrick's College) went 5-9 (55.6 pct) during the weekend.
STARTING STRONGBoth of IUP's wins were blowouts, but started that way with big first halves. The Crimson Hawks outscored Urbana and Johnson C. Smith a combined 104-49, including a 54-19 lead on Friday night.
SUCCESS AT THE LINEThe Crimson Hawks have been extremely successful at the foul line, converting 85.4 pct (35-41) of their attempts. Five players have been perfect from the charity stripe, including R-Jr. F
Daddy Ugbede (San Mateo, Calif./Serra), who has gone 8-8.
THEY CAN DISH IT OUTIUP has also been a highly effective passing team, tallying 49 assists in two games this year. Chance and Dyer have combined for 25 between them, while Jr. G Brandon Norfleet and R-Sr. F
Jeremy Jeffers (Wilson, N.C./Greenfield School) both have 9 apiece. Even more impressive, those 49 assists have come on 67 made FGs, a percentage of 73.1.
COUNTDOWN TO 1000Three Crimson Hawks enter the year with legitimate shots to reach 1,000 career points at some point during the season. Chance needs 307 points to reach the mark, while the next closest is Norfleet, who currently has 616 career points and is 384 away. Jeffers also has a legitimate shot as he's 396 away with 604 career points.
BLOCK PARTYIn a little over two seasons, R-Jr. F
Devon Cottrell (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Gateway) is one of IUP's best ever blockers, as his 87 career swats are 4th all-time. He's now just 3 behind tying Dennis Mims (2001-02) for 3rd and he's currently on pace to finish his career with 168 blocks, which would break Darryl Webb's (2007-11) all-time record of 162.
