No. 15 Crimson Hawks Head to Seton Hill for First Road Contest of the Year

THE GAME
The 15th-ranked Crimson Hawks hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to Greensburg to take on Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon. IUP will be looking to start the season with its fourth straight victory in its PSAC opener, while the Griffins is coming off of a loss to Edinboro in their only game of the season so far. 

LAST TIME OUT
IUP toughed out a 57-41 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night in the KCAC. The Bobcats led 17-15 with 8:52 to go in the first half before the Crimson Hawks went into the locker room on a 9-4 run and 24-21 lead. They then went on a 20-7 second half and salted away the clock for the 16-point win. Jr. F Daddy Ugbede (San Mateo, Calif./Serra) was the only IUP player to score in double-figures with 16 points, making 8-8 from the foul line. 

SCOUTING SETON HILL
This will be just the second game of the season for the Griffins, who lost to Edinboro 89-64 at home on Wednesday night. Despite the 25-point loss, So. F Noah Davis and Sr. G David Windsor each scored 20+ points for Seton Hill with 22 and 21, respectively. Davis proved to be a threat from long range, making 5-9 3FGs while Windsor finished 7-14 from the field. The Griffins lost their biggest weapon from last season in All-PSAC West performer Malachi Leonard, who averaged 17.0 PPG and 8.6 RPG as a senior last year. 

WHAT'S NEXT
The Crimson Hawks remain on the road as they travel to Maryland to battle Bowie State. The CIAA favorite heads into this weekend with a 3-0 record, including a 76-71 upset win over No. 4 East Stroudsburg. This will be a meeting of the 2nd (IUP) and 3rd (Bowie St.) ranked teams in the D2SIDA regional media poll.  

IUP IN THE POLLS
The Crimson Hawks checked in at No. 15 in the 2014-15 NABC Division II preseason poll. Other polls that were released this preseason had IUP at No. 9 (Sporting News and Basketball Times) and at No. 20 (Division II Bulletin).  

REGIONAL RANKINGS
New this year is the D2SIDA regional rankings, which is voted on by a group of four sports information directors in each NCAA Division II region. In its latest release, IUP sits at No. 2 in the Atlantic, garning 1 first place vote. 

HIGHLY EFFICIENT
Sr. G Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) had a very efficient opening weekend from his point guard position, averaging 20.0 PPG and 7.5 APG in the Crimson Hawks opening 2 wins. He scored those points by shooting 59.1 pct (13-22) from the field and went a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. He also was on fire from downtown, making 8-11 3FGs. 

MOVING UP THE CHARTS
Chance recently moved into the top 10 in IUP history with 316 career assists. He's currently 5 behind Brian Kizzie (2003-05) for 9th place and has a shot at Ashton Smith's (2008-12) all-time mark of 456. 

DRAKE DADDY
Jr. F Daddy Ugbede (San Mateo, Calif./Serra) set a new career-high with 16 points in 24 minutes in Wednesday night's win over West Virginia Wesleyan. The transfer from Drake went a perfect 8-8 from the foul line and was 4-6 from the field to go along with 5 total rebounds off the bench.

STAT STUFFER
Gr. G Shawn Dyer (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) has contributed all over the court in his first three games with the Crimson Hawks, averaging 11.3 PPG, 8.0 RPG and 4.0 APG in IUP's victories. He grabbed 10 boards, dished out 5 assists and had 2 steals against Urbana and shot the lights out on Saturday with 22 points on 8-14 shooting (6-11 3FGs), grabbing 5 rebounds and tallying 5 assists. He grabbed a team-high 9 boards against WVW.  

THREE-POINT FURY
Led by Chance and Dyer, the Crimson Hawks have added the three-point shot to their arsenal as they went a combined 24-54 in their three wins. That duo has combined for 16 made 3s while R-Fr. G Stefan Osborne (Victoria, Australia/St. Patrick's College) has added 5 in two games. 

SUCCESS AT THE LINE
The Crimson Hawks have been extremely successful at the foul line, leading the PSAC at 87.3 pct (48-55). Three players are tied at the top of the conference with a perfect percentage, includinig Ugbede (14-14), R-So. G Cornell Yarde II (Reading, Pa. /Schuylkill Valley) (8-8) and Jr. F Tevin Hanner (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) (8-8). 

THEY CAN DISH IT OUT
IUP has also been a highly effective passing team, tallying 64 assists in three games this year. The Crimson Hawks' 21.33 APG is currently 2nd in the PSAC. Chance is 3rd in the conference with 7.0 APG while Dyer, Jr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) and R-Sr. F Jeremy Jeffers (Wilson, N.C./Greenfield School) each have at least 11 on the season. Even more impressive, those 64 assists have come on 87 made FGs, a percentage of 73.6. 

COUNTDOWN TO 1000
Three Crimson Hawks enter the year with legitimate shots to reach 1,000 career points at some point during the season. Chance needs 301 points to reach the mark, while the next closest is Norfleet, who currently has 622 career points and is 378 away. Jeffers also has a legitimate shot as he's 393 away with 607 career points.  

BLOCK PARTY
In a little over two seasons, R-Jr. F Devon Cottrell (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Gateway) is one of IUP's best ever blockers, as his 90 career swats are tied for 3rd all-time. He's now 13 away from tying Dave Knaub (1982-86) for 2nd and 72 away from Darryl Webb's (2007-11) record 162.
