u92radio.comAT A GLANCETrying to rebound from their first two-game losing streak since mid-January of last season, the 23rd-ranked Crimson Hawks host Mansfield in the first of back-to-back PSAC crossover games on Tuesday night at the KCAC. IUP has dropped games to Mercyhurst (65-62) and Gannon (61-56, OT) while the Mountaineers are coming off of a 90-78 win over Lock Haven.

Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) with two seconds left in regulation sent the game to overtime, but the Crimson Hawks couldn't come away with a win in their five-point loss at Gannon. The Golden Knights went 3-4 from the field and 4-4 from the foul line in the final 2:25 of overtime to clinch the win.
WHAT'S NEXTThe Crimson Hawks return to the court tomorrow evening for the second of the back-to-back crossovers as they square off against Lock Haven. IUP holds a 103-35 all-time series record and has won each of the last 13 games dating back to 2008.
IUP IN THE POLLSWith the losses to Mercyhurst and Gannon in the same week, the Crimson Hawks fell 23 spots in the NABC Division II coaches poll from No. 5 to No. 23. They no longer show up in the D2SIDA media poll, falling out from No. 8.
REGIONAL RANKINGSDespite not playing a game in 10 days, the Crimson Hawks have fallen to a tie with East Stroudsburg for 4th in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings. This regional media poll is new this year and is voted on by a group of four sports information directors in each NCAA Division II region.
SEASON-OPENING STREAKSPrior to the loss to Mercyhurst, the Crimson Hawks had opened the year with 7 straight wins. It's the 3rd longest winning streak to open a season under HC
Joe Lombardi, including a 14-0 start in 2013-14 and an 11-0 start in 2009-10.
PLAYING DEFENSEDespite successive losses, the Crimson Hawks still boast arguably the best defense in the PSAC as they're 2nd in the
conference and 5th in the nation with just 58.2 points given up per game. IUP has allowed 62 or less points in six of its nine games, including a season-low 41 to West Virginia Wesleyan.
NO SHOTS FOR YOUOne of the main reasons for IUP's defensive success is not allowing opponents to get good looks at the basket. The Crimson Hawks are 4th in the PSAC with an opponent FG% of 40.6.
STEALING THE SHOWOne of IUP's best defenders is Sr. G
Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter), who's 3rd in the PSAC with 20 steals this season. He totaled 10 in his first four games and has at least 1 in each of IUP's nine games.
STOLEN CHANCESChance enters this week's games ranked 4th all-time at IUP with 160 career steals. He had a career-high of 50 last year and is just 31 away from tying Eric Castorina (2001-05) for 3rd all-time.
BLOCK PARTYAlso adding to IUP's defensive prowess is R-Jr. F
Devon Cottrell (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Gateway), who is 3rd in the PSAC with 16 blocks. One of the program's best-ever blockers, he's currently 3rd all-time in IUP history with 100 blocks - 3 away from tying Dave Knaub (1982-86) for 2nd and 62 away from Darryl Webb's (2007-11) record of 162.
DISHING IT OUTThe Crimson Hawks are 2nd in the PSAC with 146 assists and are 4th in the conference with a 16.22 per game average. They're also 4th in the league with a assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.18.
GAME OF CHANCEChance leads the way in the passing game for IUP, ranking 2nd in the PSAC and 19th in Division II with 6.1 apg. He's tallied 5 or more in seven games this season, dishing out 8 assists against Johnson C. Smith, Seton Hill and St. Rose.
MOVING UP THE CHARTSChance recently moved into the top 10 in IUP history in career assists and is currently 7th all-time with 350 in his 3+ years. He's now 22 behind Jim DeMark (1966-70) for 6th place and has a shot at Ashton Smith's (2008-12) all-time mark of 456.
SUCCESS AT THE LINEIUP leads the PSAC and is 2nd in Division II with an 80.3 FT% this year. R-So. G

Tevin Hanner (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) (11-11) each are perfect from the stripe, while Sr. F
Jeremy Jeffers (Wilson, N.C./Greenfield School) has shot 91.7 pct (11-12), Chance boasts an 85.0 FT% and Jr. F
Daddy Ugbede (San Mateo, Calif./Serra) has shot 83.7 pct.
OFF THE BENCHThe Crimson Hawks regularly use three players off the bench, with Ugbede showing the most as he's 2nd on the team with 12.2 ppg while playing just 18.7 mpg this year. Yarde II averages 5.0 ppg and 2.7 rpg while shooting 48.4 pct from the field, while Hanner scores 4.8 ppg and grabs 2.9 rpg in his 15.6 mpg off as a substitute.
SCOUTING MANSFIELDThe Mountaineers have the ability to score points in bunches as three players average better than double-figures in scoring - Sr. F Charles Pemberton (17.1), Sr. F Joe Bell (15.1) and Fr. G Andreas Katapodis (11.3). Mansfield scored 100 points to open the season and also has games of 90 and 81 points. The Mounties are also one of the best rebounding teams in the PSAC, ranking 3rd with a +8.1 rebounding margin on the season. Pemberton ranks 3rd himself in the conference with 9.1 rpg while So. F Ralik Wise averages 7.3 rpg.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVENAfter being picked to finished 3rd in the PSAC East preseason poll, Lock Haven has had a rough start to the season, entering tonight with a 2-5 overall record. The Bald Eagles are an even 2-2 in the PSAC, however, with wins over West Chester (81-75) and Pitt-Johnstown (76-73). They're led by Sr. G Wali Hepburn, last year's PSAC East Player of the Year. Hepburn leads the conference with 22.2 ppg while leading the team with 25 assists and is 2nd with 6.4 rpg. He gets to the line more often than anyone in the league, going 46-57 (.807) from the charity stripe in just five games.
