Box Score 2 INDIANA, PA – A grand slam from
Amanda Spindler (Brownsburg, IN/Cathedral) in game two sealed the deal for the Crimson Hawks, as they claimed the season sweep with the Golden Eagles Wednesday afternoon from Podbielski Field.
The Crimson Hawks allowed Clarion to plate just four runs in two games, winning 6-2 in game one and 9-2 in game two.
In game one, the Crimson Hawks dominated the game early on, getting things started in the third inning.
Christi Mauk (Claysburg/Claysburg-Kimmel) brought around the first runner, singling to the pitcher and scoring
Emily Hofmann (Dublin/Pennridge).
Allison Viguers (West Chester/West Chester East) followed that up with a single through the right side bringing home Mauk and
Hannah Mercer (Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg Area) to claim the 3-0 advantage.
Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the fourth, but the Crimson Hawks plated two more in the fifth when
Jasa Mitchell (Snow Shoe/Bald Eagle Area) reached on an error by the third baseman and advance to second on the throw, scoring Mauk and Mercer.
The Golden Eagles posted their only two runs of the game in the sixth, cutting the IUP lead to 5-2.
Megan Gould (New Germany/Forest Hills) scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning, adding an insurance run for the Crimson Hawks, who eventually walked away with the four-run victory.

Alexa Campbell (Manheim/Manheim Central ) walked away with her 11
th win of the season, pitching a complete game allowing just five hits and two runs, while striking out six.
Mercer finished the game 2-of-three, with two runs and a walk. Viguers went 1-of-3 with two RBI while Mauk was 1-of-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Game two started off on a different note, as the Golden Eagles registered back-to-back homeruns in the first inning to jump out to the early 2-0 lead.
The Crimson Hawks trailed for the early parts of the game, until tying things up at 2-2 in the fourth. In that inning, Viguers reached on an error by the shortstop, scoring both McCoy and Mauk.
IUP followed that up with a three-run fifth inning. Spindler got things going, reaching on a fielder's choice and allowing
Meghan Carney (Corry/Corry) to score on an error by the pitcher.
Mercer would follow that up with a double to right field, scoring Gould. Mauk finished up the scoring, reaching on an error and advancing to second, scoring Mercer.
Spindler wrapped the game up for the Crimson Hawks, crushing a grand slam to right center field in the sixth inning, giving IUP the 9-2 lead.
Tara Senn (Eagle/Downington East) earned the victory for IUP, pitching a complete game while allowing two runs off of eight hits and striking out four.
Spindler finished the game going 1-of-3 with four RBI and a run scored. Mercer went 1-of-4 with a run scored and an RBI while Carney was 1-of-2 with two runs scored.
With the victories, IUP improves to 25-13, 18-6 on the season, holding on to second place in the PSAC West. They'll wrap up the home portion of their regular season, hosting Slippery Rock on Saturday for an afternoon Senior Day matchup with The Rock. Things are slated to get underway from Podbielski Field at 2:30 p.m.
They'll close out the regular season on the road against Mercyhurst on Saturday, getting the doubleheader underway at 1 p.m. The PSAC tournament is slated to begin Wednesday from Quakertown, Pa.
