u92radio.comAT A GLANCEThe 25th-ranked Crimson Hawks hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Clarion to take on the Golden Eagles. IUP rebounded from a loss last weekend with a 15-point victory over visiting Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday. Clarion has lost each of its last five games and are now at the bottom of the PSAC West after, at one point, holding down the No. 6 spot.

Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) had a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists while Sr. F
Jeremy Jeffers (Wilson, N.C./Greenfield School) scored a career-high 18 points, as IUP shot 50 pct from the floor and went 10-18 from 3-point range.
WHAT'S NEXTThe Crimson Hawks will be off for a week, as they continue witht the second half of their PSAC West schedule next Saturday, Jan. 31 when they host Seton Hill. IUP won the season's first meeting, 82-64 on Nov. 22 in Greensburg.
IUP IN THE POLLSThe Crimson Hawks are hanging on in this week's NABC coaches' top 25, coming in at No. 25 in the poll, which was released on Tuesday. The Crimson Hawks have been ranked in all eight coaches' polls this season. After re-entering the D2SIDA media poll last week, the loss to SRU pushed them back out of this week's poll.
REGIONAL RANKINGSAfter the loss at Slippery Rock, IUP dropped two spots to No. 5 in the latest D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings. This regional media poll is new FOR this year and is voted on by a group of four sports information directors in each NCAA Division II region.
SHOOTING THE LIGHTS OUTIUP is the top overall shooting team in the PSAC, leading the league in field goal pct (48.8) and free throw pct (77.1) and is 2nd in 3-point field goal pct (40.9). Eight times the Crimson Hawks have shot at least 50 pct in a game and 10 times they've converted 77 pct or better from the foul line.
FIVE FOR FIGHTINGAll five of IUP's starters are shooting better than 40 pct, including Jr. F
Daddy Ugbede (San Mateo, Calif./Serra) - 67.7 pct - and Jr. G
Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) - 52.6 pct. Sr. G
Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) is the only starter qualified for PSAC stat rankings, currently 11th in the league with a 47.1 FG%.
FLOOR GENERALChance has guided IUP's offensive charge all season long, leading the team with 15.2 ppg and ranking 1st in the PSAC with 6.1 apg. He has 16 double-digit scoring games - including 19 on Wednesday against Pitt-Johnstown - and has dished out 7 or more assists seven times. Chance is also 3rd in the league with a 46.0 3FG% and is 10th with a 81.0 FT%.
MOVING UP THE CHARTSWith 10 assists on Wednesday, Chance moved into 4th place at IUP with 411 for his career, moving past Yancey Taylor (1992-95). He's within striking distance of Ashton Smith's (2008-12) all-time program record of 456.
DOUBLE-TROUBLEFor the third time this year, Chance notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists against Pitt-Johnstown. He had his first against Mansfield with 18 points and 10 assists and also had one against Cheyney with 12 points and 10 dimes. Chance has four career double-doubles, going for 10 points and 10 rebounds last year against Millersville.

Tevin Hanner (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) has added energy off the bench all year and has reached double-figures in scoring three in the last five games. Seeing extending playing time in the last week, he scored 11 in 27 minutes against SRU and 14 in 24 minutes against Pitt-Johnstown. Hanner scored a season-high 15 points in 18 minutes against Cheyney earlier this month.
MR. CONSISTENCYAside from Chance, Norfleet has been IUP's most consistent player in the last nine games, averaging 15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 3.4 apg. He's hit double-figures in scoring nine times during that span, including a season-high 21 points against Lock Haven, and is shooting 47.8 pct from 3-point range and 94.3 pct from the foul line.
PLAYING DEFENSEThe Crimson Hawks boast one of the best defenses in the PSAC as they're 2nd in the conference and 5th in Division II with just 61.4 points allowed per game. IUP has limited each of its last 10 opponents below its season scoring average, including Cal and ESU, which were held to 30 and 21 points, respectively, below their season averages.
LOW TURNOVERThe Crimson Hawks have not given the ball up much this year, averaging 13.1 turnovers per game, 4th best in the PSAC. IUP has been even better in the last three games with a combined 26 turnovers, including 7 against Edinboro, 9 against SRU, and 10 on Wednesday against Pitt-Johnstown. The Crimson Hawks are also 2nd in the league with a 1.25 assist-to-turnover ratio.
SCOUTING CLARIONNew coach Marcess Williams has brought a new style with him to Clarion, as his up-tempo Golden Eagles have increased their scoring and forced turnovers from a year ago. Clarion leads the PSAC with 20.0 forced turnovers, with Gannon and Cal each committing 25 apiece in their meetings. Transfer Jr. F Kyheim Hall leads the Golden Eagles in scoring (12.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg) while Jr. F Darius Stevens adds 12.4 ppg and 5.6 rpg. Up to 11 players see court time while six average at least 20 minutes per game.
