SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Five Crimson Hawks earned all-conference honors to lead the IUP men's cross country team to a third place finish at the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday morning.
The championships were hosted by Slippery Rock University at Cooper's Lake Campground.
Senior
Ray Ofman (Armagh, Pa. /United) was IUP's top finisher, coming in ninth place overall with an 8K time of 25:40.5. Sophomore
Austin Cooper (King of Prussia, Pa. /Upper Merion High School ) also earned first team All-PSAC honors with a 15th place finish, crossing the line with a time of 25:57.7.
Senior
Alex Hampel (Middletown, Del./Salesianum), junior
Greg Beaudette (Johnston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) and redshirt freshman
Hutson Baumann (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial High School) each earned second team All-PSAC honors on Saturday. Beaudette finished16th overall, just two seconds behind Cooper with a time of 25:59.4. Hampel earned a 20th place finish with a time of 26:09.0 and Baumann came in 23rd with a time of 26:13.7.
IUP finished with 83 points on the strength of those five finishes in the top 23 overall. Lock Haven won the men's title with 33 points while Shippensburg came in second with 46 points.
Also running for the Crimson Hawks was grad student
Andrew Morgan (Gold, Pa. /Northern Potter), who finished in 45th place with at time of 27:13.7. Redshirt junior
Caleb Cordell (Erie, Pa. /McDowell) came in 50th with a time of 27:20.4; sophomore
Tyler Vella (Danville, Pa. /Danville) was 61st with a time of 27:30.9; redshirt freshman
Ryan Louther (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) was 69th with a time of 27:39.9; junior
Dalton Trump (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey) was 90th with a time of 28:09.6.
The Crimson Hawks will be in action next weekend at Lock Haven's River Run, their final race before the 2015 Atlantic Region Championships on Nov. 7.
