BackLightTV.comAT A GLANCEThe 18th-ranked Crimson Hawks continue their three-game homestand when they host Cal at the KCAC on Wednesday night. IUP has won three straight games and is in second place in the PSAC West with a 12-3 league record. The Vulcans have lost four of their last five and at 8-8 in the conference, are still battling for one of six tournament spots in the division.
LAST TIME OUTIUP rebounded from a shaky first half, shooting 55 pct in the second in a 72-54 home win over Seton Hill on Saturday night. Jr. G
Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) scored a team-high 15 points and added 7 rebounds and 5 assists while Jr. F
Tevin Hanner (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) finished with 14 points in 18 minutes off the bench.
WHAT'S NEXTIn a game that could ultimately decide the PSAC championship host, IUP hosts division-leading Gannon on Saturday night. Gannon won the previous meeting 61-56 in OT and have won each of the last four meetings since 2013.
IUP IN THE POLLSThe Crimson Hawks moved up three spots to No. 18 in this week's NABC coaches' top 25 and have now been ranked in all 10 coaches polls released this season. However, they are still sitting outside of the D2SIDA top 25, receiving votes in the weekly media version of the poll.
REGIONAL RANKINGSIUP remains at No. 3 in the lastest D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings. This regional media poll is new for this year and is voted on by a group of sports information directors in each NCAA Division II region. The NCAA will release its regional rankings - which determine the teams that make the field of 64 - on Feb. 18.
THE CHASE IS ONSeven games remain on the schedule for the Crimson Hawks as they battle for the PSAC West title. Gannon is currently a half-game up on IUP with a 13-3 league record while the Crimson Hawks hold a half-game lead over 12-4 Mercyhurst. After Cal on Wednesday, IUP will host Gannon on Saturday and head to Erie to face Mercyhurst next week, both revenge games for the Crimson Hawks. (Full PSAC standings on page 4).

Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) heads into this week with 966 career points, just 34 away from becoming the 29th player in program history to reach the 1000 point milestone. At his current scoring pace, he could hit that mark at next Saturday's home game against Gannon.
THE 1000/400 CLUBWith his scoring milestone in sight, Chance would become just the fourth player in IUP history to score 1000 points and dish out 400 assists in his career. The other players are Ashton Smith (1635, 456), Eddie
Peterson (1621, 425) and Yancey Taylor (1257, 406).
FLOOR GENERALChance has guided IUP's offensive charge all season long, leading the team with 14.9 ppg and 6.0 apg. He has 17 double-digit scoring games and has dished out 6 or more assists in 12 of IUP's 21 games. Chance is in the top 12 in the PSAC in all three shooting categories, including 4th with a 43.4 3FG%.
DISHING IT OUTArguably the best point guard in the Atlantic Region, Chance is currently 2nd in the PSAC and 15th in Division II with 6.0 apg this year. He enters this weekend with 422 career assists, 4th all-time in program history, and he's within striking distance of Smith's (2008-12) program record of 456.
SHOOTING THE LIGHTS OUTIUP is the top overall shooting team in the PSAC, leading the league in field goal pct (49.2) and free throw pct (77.2) and is 2nd in 3-point field goal pct (40.2). Nine times the Crimson Hawks have shot at least 50 pct in a game and 12 times they've converted 77 pct or better from the foul line.
FROM THE LINEIn addition to leading the PSAC in FT%, the Crimson Hawks are also 8th in Division II with their 77.2 pct. They're currently on pace to break the IUP single season record of 74.7 pct, which was set during the 1997-98 season.

Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) has statistically been IUP's best shooter all season, shooting 53.9 pct from the field, 42.1 pct from 3-point range and a 91.5 from the foul line. In his last three games he's made 19-31 shots and he has only missed 2 free throws since the beginning of December.

Tevin Hanner (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) has been seen his contributions increase over the last seven games as he's averaging 19.3 mpg, 10.0 ppg and 4.3 rpg during that span. He's reached double-figures in scoring five times, including each of the past four games, and is shooting 65.0 pct (26-40) from the field.
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART ISSince the start of the 2011-12 season, the Crimson Hawks are a combined 51-6 in games played in the Kovalchick Complex with an average attendance of 1,609. This year IUP is 9-1 in games played in the KCAC.
SCOUTING CALIFORNIAThe Vulcans have been on a cold streak since the loss to IUP back on Jan. 10, losing four of their five games during that time. Each game has been decided by 9 points or fewer, including close losses to Mercyhurst (1 point), Slippery Rock (2 points) and Seton Hill (4 points). Jr. G Khalil Jabbie has been a consistent bright spot during this down time for Cal, leading the team in scoring in each of the last four games while averaging 15.8 ppg since the loss to the Griffins on Jan. 17.
