INDIANA, Pa. - With its 76-50 win over East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon, the IUP men's basketball team advanced to play Gannon in the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship. The title game will be played on Sunday at Gannon's Hammermill Center with a tipoff time of 3:40 p.m.

IUP is the third seed in the Western Division while the Golden Knights won the regular season division title. Gannon will be looking for its second PSAC championship.
HOW THEY GOT HEREIUP defeated Eastern Division champion ESU on Saturday to advance to the title tilt. The Crimson Hawks also beat West second seed Mercyhurst on Tuesday and UPJ at home in the opening round last Saturday. Gannon opened up the tournament with a win over Slippery Rock in the quarterfinals and defeated Kutztown in the semifinals yesterday.
LAST TIME OUTThe Crimson Hawks shot a blistering 69 pct and scored 50 points in the 2nd half alone en route to a 76-60 win over ESU in the semifinals on Saturday. Gr. G
Shawn Dyer (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) had a game-high 20 points for the Crimson Hawks.

Joe Lombardi will be going for career win No. 200 today against Gannon. He would become the fastest IUP coach to reach the mark, joining Gary Edwards (206 wins) and Peck McKnight (201). Lombardi would also be the second fastest PSAC coach, behind Millersville's John Kochan (1984-96).
IUP IN THE PSAC TOURNAMENTThis is IUP's 28th all-time PSAC tournament appearance, including its 8th straight under HC
Joe Lombardi. IUP is 13-4 in the conference tournament since 2008, with PSAC titles in 2010, 2011 and 2013. IUP is third all-time in conference history with nine PSAC championships, also winning it in 1960, 1974, 1995, 2000, 2002 and 2004.
THE GANNON MATCHUPIUP and Gannon split the regular season series, with each team winning on its home court. Neither game was high scoring as the Crimson Hawks won 64-54 on Feb. 7 and the Golden Knights winning 61-56 back on Dec. 6. These two teams have split the last eight meetings, with each team winning twice at home.
ON THEIR HOME COURTIUP is 0-2 in PSAC championship games when facing an opponent on its own court. California (PA) won 87-84 in 1996 and Bloomsburg won the title with a 72-63 victory at home in 1981.
NEW TO ERIEThis will be IUP's second ever conference tournament game against Gannon, with the Crimson Hawks winning 62-53 at home back in 2010. That was Lombardi's first career postseason victory.
PSAC TITLESLombardi is the PSAC's active leader with three tournament championships. This is his fifth trip to the conference final four and today will be his fourth PSAC title game appearances in nine seasons at IUP.
NCAA LOOK-AHEADThe 2015 NCAA Division II Championships will start on Saturday, March 14 with the first round of regional play. The top seed in each region will serve as a host with the field of 64 unveiled tonight at 10:30 p.m.
NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGSThe top eight teams remained the same as the Division II Atlantic Region rankings were released on Wednesday afternoon. Regional power West Liberty currently holds onto the top spot as the Hilltoppers compete in the Mountain East tournament in Charleston, W. Va. this weekend.

PSAC WEST ATHLETE OF THE YEARSr. G
Devante Chance (Philadelphia, Pa. /Electrical & Technology Charter) was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year earlier this week. The co-captain is 6th in the league with 16.1 ppg and 16th in Division II at 5.9 apg. His 184 assists this year is 3rd most in a season at IUP.
THE 1000/400 CLUBChance is one of four players in IUP history to score 1000 points and dish out 400 assists for a career. He's the school's all-time leader with 479 assists and is 20th with 1153 points. He's joined in the club by Ashton Smith (1635, 456), Eddie Peterson (1621, 425) and Yancey Taylor (1257, 406).
DYER'S POSTSEASON SUCCESSGr. G
Shawn Dyer (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding), a 2nd team All-PSAC West pick, has a 23-3 career record in postseason games, including his three years at West Liberty. He's averaging 16.7 ppg in those games, including 20.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg and a 50.0 FG% (18-36) in IUP's three PSAC tournament games this season.

Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) has been strong in the post all year, averaging 11.1 ppg with a 67.4 FG%. He's gone for 20 points twice in the last seven games and is shooting 80 pct (12-15) in the PSAC tourney this year.
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPSThe Crimson Hawks are at their best when the defense performs well as they are 11-1 when holding opponents under 60 points and 23-3 when opponents score less than 70 points in a game. Gannon is 17th in the PSAC with a 63.3 scoring average and hasn't scored more than 67 points vs. the Crimson Hawks in more than five years.
SCOUTING GANNONThe top defensive team in the PSAC as been even better as the regular season rolled into the conference tournament as the Golden Knights have an average of 48 points over the last six games - all wins. Included in that total was 56 points in the semifinals to Kutztown, a team that came in scoring over 75 points per contest. Opponents are shooting just 39.6 pct from the floor against the Golden Knights, one of the top marks in the NCAA. Gannon cleans up on the glass, currently ranking 2nd to Slippery Rock with a +10.9 rebounding margin. The Golden Knights are tough to beat in the Hammermill Center as they boast a 38-10 record at home in the last three years, including a 13-3 mark this season.
