NORFOLK, Va. – Eight combined members of the IUP men's and women's swimming teams received Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) earlier this summer.
Scholar All-America honorees include
Rudy Da Costa (Durban, KZN, South Africa/Westville Boys') and
Yuri Fernandes (Brazil) on the men's team, along with Gabby Guttman,
Allie Humphries (Vineland, N.J./Vineland),
Emily Shumaker (Carlisle/Big Spring),
Taylor Snyder (Titusville, Pa. /Titusville),
Paige Spradling (Lancaster, Pa. /Hempfield), and
Nicole Stevenson (Delmont, Pa. /Franklin Regional) on the women's squad.
To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.
In addition, both teams were earned Scholar All-America Team honors and also ranked second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in their respective sports with cumulative grade point averages of 3.062 (men) and 3.488 (women).
