INDIANA, Pa. - IUP has announced its 2016 Athletics Hall of Fame induction class. The class of 14 individuals will be inducted at a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 1 prior to the Crimson Hawks' home football game against Seton Hill.
The public event, which will be held in the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, will start with a reception at 10:45 a.m. followed by the induction luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
The 14 inductees include: Jim Angelo (football), Michael Beckles (men's basketball), Richard Bonaccorsi (wrestling), Ed Bouchette (contributor), Eugene Dellemonache (track and field/football), LeRon McCoy (football), Paul Murphy (football), David Myers (men's golf), Neil Postas (men's swimming), Mindy Sawtelle-Zottola (women's cross country/track and field), Michael Sheleheda (baseball/men's basketball), Brian Spickler (men's track and field), Brittany Torsell-Gates (women's volleyball), and Al Taylor (men's track & field). Sylvia Noronha will receive the annual Bell Ringer Award for her contributions to IUP Athletics.
The new inductees bring the total to 244 former athletes, coaches and administrators who have made significant contributions to IUP athletics and have enhanced its image and reputation and are now enshrined in the IUP Athletics Hall of Fame.
The football game against Seton Hill will be scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff from Frank Cignetti Field at George P. Miller Stadium. The inductees will also be publicly honored at halftime of the game.

Jim Angelo (1986) - Football
First team All-American and American Football Coaches Association All-American as an offensive tackle in 1986... Played for NFL's Philadelphia Eagles in 1987.
Mike Beckles (2000) – Men's Basketball
Second team All-American and PSAC West Player of the Year in 2000...Helped IUP to an Elite Eight appearance in 2000...Career 55.6 field goal percentage, 9.3 rebounds per game.
Rich Bonaccorsi (1986) - Wrestling
1984 NCAA Division II All-American at 177 pounds…Four-time PSAC placewinner...107-34 (.759) career record…30 years as a PIAA wrestling coach with numerous achievements.
Ed Bouchette (1973) - Contributor
Current Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer covering for the Post-Gazette…Dick McCann Award winner, chosen by Pro Football Writers Association…Numerous journalism awards…Staff writer at The Penn while at IUP.
Gene Dellamonache (1989) - Track & Field/Football
NCAA Division II All-American in the shot put in 1987 and 1988…Three-time PSAC Champion and current record holder in the shot put (57-1.25)….PSAC Championships Most Valuable Field Athlete in 1986 and 1988.
Brittany Gates (2006) - Women's Volleyball
Regarded as best middle blocker in program history…Four-time All-Region selection…Three-time first team All-PSAC West pick, 2002 PSAC West Rookie of the Year…Holds every major blocking record at IUP.
LeRon McCoy (2005) - Football
Three-time All-PSAC West selection as a wide receiver…Finished IUP career with 110 receptions for 2,096 yards and 25 touchdowns…Selected by Arizona Cardinals in seventh round of 2005 NFL Draft and played four seasons.
Paul Murphy (1968) - Football
Captain of 1967 team that finished with an 8-1 record…Finished second on team with five interceptions as a senior…Three-year starter…Head football coach at Greensburg Salem High School from 1976-1985.
Dave Myers (1993) - Men's Golf
Honorable mention All-American, PSAC Men's Golfer of the Year in 1992…PSAC Freshman of the Year in 1989…Four-time All-District and All-PSAC selection…Won Fall 1991 PSAC Championship.
Neil Postas (1974) - Men's Swimming
Was IUP men's swimming's first All-American in 1973...Four-year letterwinner.
Mindy Sawtelle (2005) Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
Three-time NCAA Division II Cross Country All-American…Second place at NCAA Championships in 2003…PSAC Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2003 and 2005…Five-time track & field All-American (three times outdoor, twice indoor).
Mike Sheleheda (1965) - Baseball/Men's Basketball
Four-year baseball starter at first base, third base, outfield and pitcher…Held single season batting average of .427 until 1997…Named NAIA All-American in 1964…Athletic Director at Upper St. Clair from 1984-2002.
Brian Spickler (1998) - Men's Track & Field
Two-time NCAA Division II Outdoor All-American in the decathlon…Three-time PSAC Champion…1997 PSAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Year and PSAC Championships Most Valuable Athlete…2006 USA National Champion in the four-man bobsled.
Al Taylor (1996) - Men's Track & Field
All-American in the 110 meter hurdles in 1992 and 1995…Set school record in the event in 1996, and it still stands today…Four-time PSAC champion in the 110 meter hurdles and 4x100 meter relay.
