INDIANA, Pa. – IUP head baseball coach
Anthony Rebyanski has announced a scrimmage with his Crimson Hawks and the Pittsburgh Pirates Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve. The seven-inning game is set for Monday, April 3 at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona.
"We would like to thank Mike Ryan, and the Altoona Curve and Pittsburgh Pirates front office staffs for allowing our student-athletes to have this opportunity," Rebyanski said. "This is a great chance for our program to play at a beautiful minor league ballpark and compete on the same field as professional baseball players."
Curve manager Mike Ryan graduated from Indiana High School in 1996 and was a fifth round pick of the Minnesota Twins that same year. He saw time in the organizations of the Twins, Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Anaheim Angels from 1996-2005.

"It was exciting for me personally to follow Mike's professional playing career, being that he is an Indiana native," said Rebyanski. "Now having the opportunity to watch him climb the ranks as a field manager in the Pirates organization is just as exciting. I am honored and privileged to be able to coach a baseball game against him."
The Curve will use the game as their only scrimmage before Opening Day on Thursday, April 6 at Harrisburg.

Pitchers used in the game will be exclusively from Altoona's roster, as the IUP hitters will get the chance to face minor league pitching in a professional stadium. IUP will also play its usual infield and outfield behind Curve pitching.
Location / admission
Admission to the game will be free for all fans, with first pitch set for 1:30 p.m. on April 3. The address for Peoples Natural Gas Field is 1000 Park Ave. #1, Altoona, PA, 16602.
