THE WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
No. 3 IUP men's basketball (6-0, 0-0 PSAC) hits the road for the first time this year to open conference play against Kutztown and Millersville this weekend. The Crimson Hawks play Kutztown Saturday and Millersville Sunday, each game with 3 p.m. tipoff times. IUP is undefeated in non-conference play, including a pair of double-digit wins over USciences and Le Moyne over Thanksgiving weekend. Kutztown enters the weekend fresh of a one-point win over Jefferson while Millersville has dropped two straight.

>> The Crimson Hawks are coming off an impressive 60-48 win over Le Moyne last Saturday, holding last year's East Region champs to 29 percent shooting. Sr. G
Dante Lombardi scored a team-high 15 points.

Joe Lombardi is a combined 14-6 against Kutztown and Millersville.
>> He's won eight of his last nine against the Golden Bears dating back to 2009-10, the only loss a 78-76 road defeat in 2015. Lombardi hasn't lost to Millersville in the last seven games dating back to 2008-09.
>> The Crimson Hawks have won five of their last six games during PSAC East-West crossover opening weekend, including four straight wins over Lock Haven and Bloomsburg the last two seasons.
>> IUP has one more non-conference regular season game, traveling to Fairmont State Friday, December 14.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE GOLDEN BEARS AND MARAUDERS
>> Kutztown enters the weekend with a 4-2 overall record, including a 2-0 mark at Keystone Arena.
>> The Golden Bears opened the season with a 107-07 win at No. 2 West Liberty, followed by a 74-72 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan (3-3).
>> These teams have a common opponent in USciences. KU won 76-71 in Philadelphia on November 14.
>> Millersville is 3-3 on the season but have dropped each of the last two to Wilmington and Jefferson.
>> The Marauders did have a three-game win streak, with two of those victories at home.
>> Millersville was picked 5th in the PSAC East coaches poll, fresh of its first league tournament in three years.
CRIMSON HAWKS ONE OF TOP TEAMS IN THE NATION
>> IUP has been ranked No. 3 in both the NABC and D2SIDA Media Top 25 polls each of the last two weeks. IUP opened the year at No. 8 in the coaches and No. 6 in the media preseason polls.
>> The Crimson Hawks received all six first place votes in the latest D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings for the second straight release. Kutztown is No. 8 in the regional poll this week.
>> The Crimson Hawks also received national attention from preseason magazines, earning a No. 3 ranking by Street & Smith's and a No. 13 ranking from the Division II Bulletin.
IUP CARRIES STRONG NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE IN 2018-19
>> IUP put together arguably the strongest non-conference schedule in the Atlantic Region, including Concord and Fairmont State (MEC), then-No. 16 Virginia State and Bowie State (CIAA), USCiences (CACC) and Le Moyne (NE10).
>> Those teams combined for a 121-60 (.669) record last year with a pair of No. 1 regionally ranked teams.
>> The Crimson Hawks put two of the top teams from the CIAA in Virginia State and Bowie State on the schedule, along with other strong teams in Concord (MEC), USciences (CACC) and Le Moyne (NE10).
JACOBO DIAZ NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN, ONE OF TOP PLAYERS IN ATLANTIC REGION

Jacobo Diaz earned presason All-American honors from Street & Smith's and the Division II Bulletin.
>> A 2017 All-American and PSAC West Athlete of the Year as a sophomore, Diaz is one of four players in program history with 1,200 career points and 850 career rebounds.
>> He has 32 career double-doubles, the 3rd most among active Division II leaders and most among PSAC players.
>> Diaz ranks in the top 10 in the PSAC in 14 different statistical categories, including 1st in double doubles (3), 5th in scoring (21.2 PPG) and 6th in rebounding (9.0 RPG).
>> He has led IUP in scoring four times this year and has four 20-point performances. Diaz scored a season-high 29 points in the win over Westminster.
DANTE LOMBARDI ONE OF TOP POINT GUARDS IN PSAC

Dante Lombardi is a three-time All-PSAC West honoree, including a 1st team selection last year.
>> He's the fifth player in IUP history with 1,000 career points and 400 career assists. He enters the weekend with 1,122 points and 432 assists.
>> He enters the weekend 4th in the PSAC with 5.8 APG and 8th with a 2.06 assist/turnover ratio. Lombardi tallied a season-high 9 assists int he win over Westminster.
>> Lombardi has a 3-pointer in all six games this season and 28 of 33 contests dating back to last year.
>> He is 2nd in the PSAC and 22nd in Division II with 6.5 APG. He had a season-high 9 assists against Westminster.
>> Lombardi has a 3-pointer in all four games this season and 26 of 31 contests dating back to last year. His 183 career 3-pointers is 6th in program history.
MALIK MILLER STEPPING UP IN FIRST YEAR AS A STARTER

Malik Miller is 2nd on the team with 15.5 PPG in his first year as a starter.
>> He's posted double-figures in scoring all six games this year, including a season-high 24 points in the win over No. 16 Virginia State.
>> Miller has made at least two 3-pointers five times this year and is shooting 40.0 percent (12-30) on the year.
>> He's also shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 78.9 percent from the foul line.
WILLEM BRANDWIJK ADDING PRESENCE IN THE POST

Willem Brandwijk is averaging 11.2 PPG and 6.5 RPG in his 2nd year with the program.
>> He's reached double-figures five times, including a season-high 14 points against Westminster.
>> He is tied with Diaz for the team-lead with a 55.8 field goal percentage and leads the team with 6 blocks.
